I was bought up believing God was God and Jesus was the son of God and there is only one God. I am now a muslim revert and belive much the same thing, except Jesus was a man and was a Prophet as was Mohammed (peace be upon him) - I even believe in the second coming (except Jesus will return as a Muslim). When did Christianity get confused and start saying Jesus IS God, it makes no sence and that was never taught to me as a Christian, is it a new thing?

You must remember that Christianity is a much older belief system than Islam. Islam is nothing but an imaginary creation of a delusional and crazed madman named Mohammed. Christianity on the other hand was an offshoot of an already existing belief system known better as Judaism... same God but different belief in the Messiah. The whole Jesus is God concept is nothing new and is in fact one of the foundational principles of Christianity.

Here are some proven facts to show the deity of Christ:

He reveals himself in the fiery furnace in the book of Daniel (Daniel 3:19-25). He reveals himself in the person of Melchizedek as a type of Christ in the book of Genesis (Genesis 14:18-20). The book of Hebrews confirms this (Hebrews 7:3-6). Jacob might have wrestled with him (Genesis 32:22-30). He revealed himself to the parents of Samson (Judges 13:3-11). God makes a prophetic allusion to the first coming of Christ in Genesis 3:15. Additionally, many prophecies are foretold by the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah.

The New Testament is much easier in establishing the deity of Christ. The resurrection story alone is evidence of His deity. Just the fact that He died and rose again is all we really need to know to confirm this truth. But, if that's not enough, take into account the numerous miracles he performed:

Calming of the storm (Matt. 8:23-27, Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-25), Healing of man with leprosy (Matt. 8:1-4, Mark 1:40-45, Luke 5:12-16), healing a paralyzed man (Matt. 9:1-8, Mark 2:1-12, Luke 5:17-26), feeding of five thousand (Matt. 14:13-21, Mark 6:30-44, Luke 9:10-17, John 6:1-15), raising Lazarus from the dead (John 11:38-44), just to name a few.

God himself declares Jesus as the Son of God (Matt. 3:16-17, Luke 9:35)

Jesus claims He is deity many times throughout the gospels (John 10:30, John 14:9, Matt. 11:27, John 13:13, John 14:20-21).

The claims of Jesus' deity by others (John 20:28, Matt. 14:33, 16:16, 27:54; Mark 1:24, Mark 3:11, Mark 5:7)

Even the demons acknowledge His divine nature (Luke 8:27-28).

The list goes on. In Colossians 1:16 it states that He created all things including heaven and earth. Only a God could accomplish such a task!

The first chapter of John is most famous in describing the full deity of Christ (John 1:1-18).

Philippians 2:5-5 states, "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped."

Additionally, Hebrews 1:8 states, "But about the Son he (God) says, Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom."

If you are still not convinced of His deity, then I don't know what will. From these given examples it is quite evident, thus safe to conclude, Jesus Christ is clearly God.

Christianity has NOT become confused. People who profess Christianity are the ones who are confused. Jesus is the Son of God, not God himself. At John 17:3, Jesus called his Father the ONLY true God. How simple can you get?

JESUS WILL RETURN AS A MUSLIM?.......LOL that is the funniest thing I've ever heard.I laughed so hard I think I pee'd a little bit. The king of the JEWS is going to join the religion that wants all jews dead, and then blow himself up in a public market ...that is a good one,but about your first question...some christians believe that Jesus is god,and I don't know where that one comes from. I'm guessing they haven't read the bible. It makes about as much sence as Jesus coming back as a Muslim

Look in John 9 and 10 where someone worships him and he doesn't rebuke them and is then called a "blasphemer".

You can find a lot of teaching about Jesus being the Son of God in letters between Christians. Written all in the first century. And it is possible to find them in their intact Greek forms. (original). (Paul and John)

(The problem with the religion that has all the answers is that it doesn't allow any questions).

Also in the old testaments in Psalms there is a verse about "Kiss the Son or God will become angry". I can't remember it, but you can find it.

You should do research on the archeological evidence of biblical texts as well as islamic texts.

And check out this website,

God will reveal Himself to you. Keep looking.

It was a church decision. There were people that claimed that Jesus would eventually cease to exist, because anything that was created must come to an end. The church answered this by declaring at the Council of Nicea that Jesus was of the same substance as God (consubstantiation) and that his birth did not subtract from God etc.

From what I actual have examine, the two previous and New Testaments tutor that God is one. Jesus Christ IS God, only by way of fact the father is God. particular, there are places in the Bible the place the two are identifiable as separate persons, yet continually going decrease back to the veracity of God is one with the intention to proceed to be precise. occasion: Daniel 7 13 "In my imaginative and prescient at evening I appeared, and there formerly me grow to be one like a son of guy, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the classic of Days and grow to be led into his presence. 14 He grow to be given authority, glory and sovereign skill; all peoples, international locations and adult males of each language worshiped him. His dominion is an eternal dominion that may not bypass away, and his kingdom is one that is genuinely no longer destroyed. There you have the classic of Days, the father who's God, being approached by employing the main severe; who's then worshiped by employing all those human beings of each usa language and tongue.

Lemme get this straight. You're an ex-Christian, but you never read the Gospels???

Mark 14:62 And Jesus said, I AM: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. :63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? :64 Ye have heard the blasphemy:...

John 8:19 Then they said unto Him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. 20 These words spake Jesus in the treasurey, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

John 8:24, ""Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins."

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

Jesus rewards those who worship Him:
Mat 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Mat 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus was killed for His teachings. The very question that you are asking about Jesus deity was the same reason he was Cricified. The teachers at His time would not accept Him as the Promised Messiah, the one who the procecy foretold.

Jesus asked this crowd..."what does this mean when David the Kind said this... "the Lord said to my Lord, sit down at my right hand until your enemies become your footstool." Who is the Lord and who is my Lord?

The Trinity in the Bible
Historical Developments of the Doctrine of the Trinity
The term trinity is not found in the Bible but is a theological word which expresses the clear teaching of Holy Scripture, especially the New Testament. The first theologian of the church to use the term was Theophilus who spoke of God as trius.
The great Latin Church father Tertullian first developed the concept of trinitas, one God in Three Persons. Though the Fathers of the Church in the second and third centuries spoke of the three Persons of the Godhead while recognizing that there was but one God, the councils of Nicea (A.D. 325) and Constantinople (A.D. 381) gave the fullest expression to the Biblical doctrine.

The Bible Explicitly Teaches That There is Only One God
THE TEACHING OF THE OLD TESTAMENT
Belief in one God in the ancient Mediterranean world was unique to the nation of Israel. The faith of Israel is given in the famous Shema “Hear , O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one” (Deut.6:4). Repeatedly the teaching of the Law and the pronouncements of God’s prophets confirm this absolute truth.
THE TEACHING OF THE NEW TESTAMENT
The church continued the teaching of the Hebrew Scriptures as well as the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, that there is only One God (see 1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:6; 1 Tim. 2:5). This it did in contrast to the rampant polytheism that permeated the Greco-Roman world with its multitude of gods, including worship of the emperor as a god during the latter half of the first century. As the apostles and later the church began to articulate this monotheism against pagan religion, it was necessary to explain how this belief in one God was consistent with the concurrent belief that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are each God and yet still only one God.
SCRIPTURE TEACHES THAT THREE PERSONS ARE ONE GOD
GLIMPSES OF THE TRINITY IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
Use of the word Elohim with Singular Verbs
The usual word for God in the Hebrew is Elohim. This noun is in the plural, whereas in several places the term for God is a singular, such as EL or Eloah. In spite of the plural term for God, the true Jewish faith was strongly monotheistic. When Elohim is used regarding the God of Israel, it is used with singular verbs, indicating that the God of Israel is a single being. The plural allows for a plurality of expression for God, as later revealed in the New Testament, but Hebrew grammar may also simply be using a plural of plenitude.
Use of plural personal Pronouns
On Three occasions the Old Testament uses plural personal pronouns when speaking of God. The first occurrence refers to the creation of humanity: “Let Us make man in Our image” (Gen. 1:26). The second pertains to God deciding to confuse human languages at the tower of Babel: “let Us go down” (Gen. 11: 6-9). The last reference is to the call to mission: “Who will go for Us?” (Is. 6:1-8).
THE ANGEL OF THE LORD
Several times in the Hebrew Scriptures, references is made to “The Angel of the Lord” (Yahweh). It is evident from the contexts that thee references do not speak
