I'm sorry that your cat is not feeling well. I think it's time to find another vet as soon as possible. I suggest asking your friends and neighbors who have pets which vet they use.

When my 15 year old cats are not feeling well, I usually give them Gerber's 2nd Stage baby food in a jar. They seem to like the turkey and chicken flavors. There's no chewing involved.

I would just keep feeding it soft food until this passes. If its looking dehydrated you may want to induce fluids. Either a baby bottle or eyedropper from liquid medication would work great. keep the fluids going in at a fair rate. If the cat seems to be throwing up more and more then be sure to contact the vet where they can observe him under close supervision.

The most important thing is water. Really coax him for water. How are his teeth?

Do you feed kibble or wet or both?

Talk to your vet about this, but if he's underweight I'd get him some cat milk from a pet food store (the kind you give to orphaned kitten's) will get the vitamins and proteins he needs into him and may help fatten him up. (Not a grocery store, they don't usually carry it...try a superpet, petsmart, any of those)

NO COW DAIRY though, this could make problem worse.

Lot's of luck !

14 Is a great age for a cat - as the average age expectancy is 10 or 11. Listen to what your gut instinct is telling you - you know he isn't right so please have him have another checkup - ask the vet to check his throat. Mash up his food, or try the bolony rolls for cats and chop them up into fine pieces, and feed it to him slowly. Please see the Vet for advice as I can gather from you you love your cat and it would just be so inhumane to let him suffer. To cure a stomach bug in a cat try giving him some natural yogurt (not fruity ones) as the friendly-bacteria will help the stomach, do not give him anything for 24 hours bar this and water. If it continues, visit your nearest vet for advice.

since he's 14yo i'd take him to another vet, just to make sure. Cats have really delicate livers and kidneys, and almost always their signs of aging will start in those organs, so why not play it safe and have a second opinion? You can give him 2 centimeters of Pedialyte every hour if you find him dehydrated.
