She is a full grown 3 year old pitbull and this is her first liter. I am very nervous and excited...Also does anyone know my rights to her puppies. The owner of the male said he wanted a hundred dollars for mating her but now he wants a puppy. What should I do?

My husband's Aunt's dog "discharged" for about a week before she delivered. Your dog is due any day now, so it could be the first signs of labor. Dogs have a natural instinct to have puppies...the quieter you can be, the better for her. Only humans need a birthing coach! Call your vet and have him/her on standby just in case. Ask your friends and neighbors if they have had puppies before and ask them to be on standby! Puppies can be born breech, so don't worry if one comes out backwards.

As far as the males owner...do you have a written contract?...did you pay him the money already?...do you have a receipt for the money pd? If you haven't pd anything, and don't have a contract, then you may have to give up a puppy. If you HAVE a contract, regardless if you have pd the money (you still owe the money if you haven't pd yet), then the puppies are YOURS. I had a contract for all females I bred to. It had a clause for cash, one for pick of litter, and one for if only one puppy was born.

If you have pd, you can refuse a puppy, but may not get papers for your puppies (if parents are reg.), because the males owner has to sign the reg. application also.

Hope this helps and Good luck on your puppies.

The female will go into labe in the next day or so and for some reason they generally start having pups in the middle of the night.
We have had a couple people want money and a pup of thier choosing for payment for stud service. Sometimes they want a pup for a new stud or to sell.

Soon, she'll have them soon. Could be today or a
couple of days from now. Did you have a contract with the other breeder? I don't think he can force you to give him a puppy but i'm not an expert in that field.

just keep her comfy, the pups could come anytime in the next few days. as for the sperm donar, if you paid him, that was the deal, if he wants a pup he needs to buy one, but if you havent paid him, tell him he can have his pick of the pups after they have been born and you know they are all health, its not uncommon for the stud owner to get a pup, but you did have a deal beforhand, so its your discression on that one. just make sure these dogs go to good homes and that you get them medical care soon after they are born (and the mom as well) to make sure everything is fine and they are getting the right nutrition and everything

They will come in the next week. Normally it won't be that long, but it could be. Good Luck!
