It really isn't that important. In the New Testament, it is of course where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected. However, the focus of the New Testament, in terms of Christian hope, is on the New Jerusalem, and not the old.
For example:
Hebrews 11:8-10---"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God."
Hebrews 11:16---"Instead, they were longing for a better country-a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them."
Hebrews 13:14--- "For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come."
Revelation 21:2-4--- "I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.' "
Now, in contrast, look what is said about the present city of Jerusalem:
Revelation 11:7-8: "Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified."

Jerusalem is the non secular centre of Judaism. it rather is right here that the Jewish temple stood; whilst the 1st one fell, it replaced into rebuilt, and whilst the Romans destroyed that, in A.D. 70, all that remained replaced into one wall, which nonetheless stands right now. The Kotel, or 'Wailing Wall'. it rather is right here that Jews pray and it rather is an exceedingly specific place, of non secular, non secular and historic value to us. It replaced into additionally from Jerusalem that King David governed. For 1000's of years, Jews have prayed dealing with Jerusalem; remember, we've been maximum persons in that city in the previous Islam even existed. Jerusalem is suggested in our scriptures, the Tanakh, on dissimilar events. we've constantly stated 'next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days in Jerusalem' at Jewish fairs and specific events. Islam: i don't possibly recognize why Muslims declare Jerusalem is significant to them. it is not suggested whilst quickly as interior the Quran. Muslims pray dealing with Mecca, and that they are going to overtly say that their holiest places are Mecca and Medinah. Muslims in no way governed over nor from Jerusalem, in no way. Christians have a undeniable fondness for Jerusalem for countless motives. Jesus, the Christian messiah, lived in what's now Israel and is known to have hung out in Jerusalem. i will great call your positioned up for my Christian buddies as i'm beneficial they'd have plenty to function :)

It is the place where our Savior walked and will be the place He will walk again. Bible prophecy talks about what will happen concerning it and what has already happened concerning it and what is actually happening over there right now. It is the Holy Land. The city specifically mentioned that Christs Kingdom will reside and has been in the past and will be in the future the center of humanity.
