I had a tooth out last week and the blod clot came off. I developed dry socket which caused a bad tasting infection. I was given strong antibiotics and the pain reduced day by day. It will take a long time to heal but is nowhere near as painful as it was. I also am taking solpadol for the pain. Trust me, go back and see your dentist asap.

The pain you have gone through is the worst you can get. Go to the dentist and get some relief. Don't worry about the smell just please go to the dentist and get some relief for that pain.

A dry socket is about the worst pain - ever. It is when you lose the blood clot that should be over the wound and the bare bone and nerves are exposed to the air and whatever is in your mouth. There is also a high possibility of infection if you do not do something about this now.

Don't worry by the sounds of it you have an apses, if this is the case he will not be able to do anything until you take a course of antibiotics to clear this up. Then you will have to go back to have the tooth checked. This could also be the cause of the bad smell in your mouth. Try swishing a antibacterial mouth wash around you mouth this will help a bit. Sheila.

it hurts like hell dosn't it happens to me it means the scab blood clot thing as come out. bet your tongue cant leave it alone. he wont do anything about a dry socket or could put in a little plug of cotton wool. it will heal on it own. take some paracetmol for the pain and go ask for advice the smell is the infection or it getting better dont worry they know what they are doing

Bless your heart! I can empathise for I have been through the same thing. When you go back, the dentist will pack the places with gauze dipped in clove oil. This will help the sites heal and give you some relief. You won't ever want anything else cooked with cloves, but, I will definately feel better. :) Take care of yourself.....
