The only reason religious people consider homosexuality wrong is that the irrational prejudices of ancient people were written down long ago and have been perpetuated through religion. That's it. "My holy book says it's evil, so it's evil." No thought. No reason. Just blind faith in the accuracy and "goodness" of scripture.

In reality, homosexuality is perfectly natural and harms absolutely no one. Not a soul. What DOES hurt people is persecution, hate, and discrimination. To persecute someone without just cause is immoral.

Actually, I disagree with this point. There are plenty of things in this world that God does NOT approve of, and that does not conform to God's will. To name just a few, consider theft, rape, wife-beating, murder, lying, and sexual abuse.

Many people commit such acts because they feel they "can't control" their urge to do so. We have pedophiles in our socity, as well as kleptomaniacs, sociopaths, psychopaths, unconsciounable liars, and the like. Does the existence of these individuals mean that the 2,000 year old ban on their "uncontrollable urges" is not from God, or is outdated and unreasonable? No. It just means that there are some humans that need more help in these areas than other humans.

God's idea of right and wrong hasn't changed in the last 7,000 years. Surprisingly, humans hasn't either. They are in just as much opposition now as they were 7,000 years ago. Why do you think there was a prohibition on lying and murder? Because everybody told the truth and did no harm to each other? Why make a law outlawing adultery, if everybody is faithfull? Would that make sense?

No. Homosexuality has been around for a very long time, just like all the other sins of old. It has been practiced by MANY cultures. That doesn't make it right, any more than child sacrifice and ritual prostitution (both old religious practices).

What is popular is not always right. What is right is not always popular.

I have to admit I wonder if being gay is born within or preferences.I don't think many would just choose the life style as living is hard enough and living gay is very hard. The bible does say that men being with men is an abomination,so I guess it matters whether you believe the scriptures to be inspired writings or just other folks opinions. Most of us have crosses we carry, things that we have little control over, but these crosses are there for us to bear and lift ourselves up,even though we fall, these crosses and burdens are meant for us to struggle with if we care and find strengths to over come them,as Christ did on his way to his death, the story says he fell three times carrying the cross and having a crown of thorns on his head, but he continued on his journey because he knew what he had to do and he kept going even after falling to do what was right.Perhaps these things are crosses to bear and trying not to fall into them too many times, maybe it's not just a feeling inside but a spiritual battle that you lose when you give in,like others lose when they give in to other weakness'.I don't know really but I would like to know how the Creator will handle this when we all meet up. Good Luck.

There has been a test (a christian one) done that proved gay people are not born gay. It happens from experiences from early childhood. Something dramatic that happen by their parents when they were very young, most times homosexuals don't remember it. It was so dramatic they blocked it out of memory. There for it is not Gods will, but human nature reacting to life situations. As far as Christians. I myself am a Christian, however I do not agree on how most Christians react to homosexuality. I don't support homosexuality. However the Bible says to love everyone. We do not have to love what they do but we have to love them. I think many Christian's forget the love part. They use the Bible to support their thoughts because the Bible says that man and man and woman with woman should never happen and that it is not a union see by God. Yes the Bible is just a book, but the Bible is the inspired word of God that men wrote down to not forget the words God spoke to them. Everything has been as it was and will be as God has and will allow it.

Here's the rub.
If Christians are of the New Covenant then the Laws of Moses do not apply, only the laws as given by Jesus. If people are followers of Jesus then it should be by that word they are living.

If Christians are not of the New Covenant then they must obey ALL the laws of the OT, and there are a lot of them.

You can't have it both ways ............. wait, they do try to have it both ways. If people do not like homosexuality, that's fine, no one is asking for people who are not homosexual to become homosexual, at least no one who understands genetic based sexual choice.

I'm sure that a lot of people will trot out verses from both the OT and the NT about how (spooky voice inserted) E-V-I-L the "sin" of homosexuality is, but none of them will find anything spoken by Jesus about it.

And the young lady who put in about the test done by Christians on Homosexuality. Can we say Bias? If the test isn't done by an impartial group, it is suspect.

Homosexuality is not and has nothing to do with God's will. If you look at the Bible you'll see several examples of what God thinks about homosexuality - new testimate and old. Why do we point to the BIble? Because it's God's word. Do you also think it's God's will that serial murderer's are out there? or that people die? Or that there is little justice in the world? Yes, God can only be the judge of these people, but if you believe that much of the Bible, why do you write off the rest?

Let me answer a couple of points here.

1. God loves us all yes but not all behavior is acceptable to God.

2. Romans Chapters 1 and 2 describe, along with other sins, the sin of homosexuality and where it comes from. Homosexuality is many times a result of turning from God according to Romans. A symptom of a much deeper spiritual issue.
3. I see we have the old "written by man, it's outdated etc..." argument. If your going to ask what christians believe then you have to know they really believe it. If I am a christian and truly believe the bible, then why ask why I believe the bible. I don't believe it's outdated, I don't believe it was authored by man but merely "penned", but was authored/inspired by the Holy Spirit.

4. If a man has "love" in his heart for the neighbors dog am I supposed to accept that? or how about "love" in his heart for a child or another mans wife?

5. DESERVE sexual pleasure. Sexuality is a gift from God. We didn't "deserve" it. It was given as a gift to be acted out withen the boundaries of a traditional male/female marraige. And I believe this not because I "hate" homosexuals. I have a love in my heart for homosexuals and don't believe in most cases that they can help their desire. But acting out on a sinful desire is wrong. I may have a desire to steal...but no matter how hungry I am, stealing is still wrong.
6. Gays exhist because God is merciful. God created humans perfect but we fell. It is no more God's will that homosexuals are the way they are than it is his will that alcoholism runs from generation to generation. If God punished sin immediately just because we were born with a leaning in a sinful direction, whatever that is...none of us would be alive.

Everyone here so far is looking at only one side of the coin and presumeing that your religion is honest and telling the truth. It's basically about making money. From the very beginning parents were told by the church to have many children and the Catholic church even preaches against birth control. Doesn't it make since, the more followers you have, the more money you make. But what about those homo's, they can't have children, so there's less money coming in from them. Your bible has been altered more times than you want to know or want to believe. Religion is basically a business, born from greed, discrimination and disception.

People are really not going to like my answer.
Look, the Bible also says that ALL sin is equal in God's eyes. This means that those who engage in homosexual sex, those who steal, those who lie, those who rape, those who murder, and those who practice idolatry are ALL equally sinful.
The Bible NEVER says that a person who is homosexual is sinning, period. It says that those who actually PRACTICE homosexuality are sinning.
It's true that some people can't help the way they're born. I understand that, I really do. I was born a liar, and a masochist. Does this mean that I can't resist it? Of course not. I also used to be bisexual. Does this mean that I'm miserable now that I'm straight? NO.
The fact is, with your logic, EVERYTHING that the Bible says is out of date.
No, some things are still sinful. There is no way around that.
Lots of people are born with urges. Does that make it right when they give into them? No. Never.

NO one asks to be gay or straight, but everyone is given the free will to make choices. Homosexuality only exists because of Satan. Satan is the cause of all that is against God's Word in the Bible. God never changes, nor does God's word ever change, that is why the NT, 2000 years later, remains the same and the OT, aleast 4000 years old, remains the same.

God does love us all and God can be the only one to judge, however, we as Christians are commanded by Jesus to spread the Gospel of salvation. To receive salvation, all one needs to do is to ask for forgiveness and repent and ask Jesus to lead your life and live as God commands us in the Bible.

The Bible tells us that homosexuality is indeed a sin. In the OT as well as in the NT:

"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them" (Lev. 20:13).

"For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet" (Rom. 1:26-27).
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:28-32)

Any person believing that they are a homosexual has the free will to make a choice. If they choose to go against what God commands, then they will face him at judgement day.
