I have always been told that muslims get blessings for praying with others. I have found this also...
"The Salaat [prayer], on the contrary, is a collective and public affair, where the needs and requirements of other companions of the congregation are evidently to be taken into consideration. It is pointedly to bring into relief that the Salaat is in principle and preferably to be performed in common along with others (congregation): the Salaat individually and in isolation is only tolerated and never recommended, the preference going to the congregational service. Let us see now more closely the diverse aspects of this collective and public act which is performed in the company of others."

That is actually an easy answer, but some wont like it.
Everything stems back to the Torah and the original 'Bible' before it got all twisted and torn apart into the current three sects.
The Israelites believed in a lot more than you think, and the "power of prayer" was only one such way of looking at it. For them, it was not so much that "GOD" entered into their midst when three or more gathered..... it was that the "POWER OF GOD" entered. As in the power of ritual workings towards a givne end.
Stay with me on this one....... what they termed as the Power of God was in Reality what most Pagans believe is the Power of Ritual Spell-casting. It is one and the same and the actual rituals, if done correctly do the exact same thing. It is an appeal to a higher force, but in reality it is a whole bunch of people putting their own energies into a coordinated ritual to accomplish something (Good or Bad; the ancient Israelites believed you could kill as well as heal with these rituals).

When people pray in groups the Lord tells us that when 2 or more come together what ever we ask will be done ...Attention this is an attention that you had better get some of or be doomed for life...Right Their will come a day you will wish you had stood up for the right to pray to Jesus..You nonbelievers try to make people mad but you don't make me mad it just opens up a place in my heart for you and that is when I start to pray for your dumbness..If you are so against prayer then why do you write here. You know what it tells me that your enter soul is crying out for you..Just me saying a prayer for you has helped you...Weather you know it or not..God bless The lost people of this world so that they may be saved from what is coming ..The Antichrist...And when you Finely believe one day it is going to be to late for you and those like you....Jesus loves you. And rember this their is power in numbers...And dont you ever forget it...

Why do religious people ignore the very explicit instructions of Matthew 6:5-7? Their guy clearly said, "thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are, for they love to pray standing in the syngogaues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men...thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet [=private room], and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret..."
The "gathering together in my name" verse says nothing about prayer. And it's "two or three" who are supposed to gather together anyway, not thousands. The whole thing has gotten twisted about as far as it ever could be. Jesus would not recognise American Christianity with its mega-churches and people praying in public all over the place. Don't Christians even read the Bible?

I never pray in groups. I think prayer is something between God and you and should be done in private. I don't need to show the world I pray. I don't even type out prayers.

It goes back to the bible stating that the Lord will be in the midst of "where 2 or more are gathered together".
That's all. Prayer has power. I take issue with the showy corporate prayers that are all catch phrases and nothing of your self. From your heart. Christianese is bantered about sometimes instead of what is truly from our hearts.

Why is it so offensive for you to see people praying in groups?
Is it offensive for you to see gay pride parades? How about pro-choice protests? Is that offensive? How about the anti-war protests?
Fact is, the reason Christians pray together is the same reason that those groups I mentioned demonstrate together: They feel that more is accomplished as a group, than as an individual.
In that context, is that so wrong? We still have freedom of assembly, do we not?

Remember, we are told that "wherever two or more are gathered in my name, I am there". I do not believe that it is necessary to always pray in groups. If I go to eat alone, I pray alone. When I am home alone, I pray alone. I also pray with others when I am with others. The ATHEIST wants to do what he/she can to get religion out of our lives because they are sent by Satan. He is the author of confusion and the king of liars. I believe in GOD... I read and study HIS WORD even when I am alone. Thank you for asking this important question. Have a GREAT WEEK!

God hears all prayers, whether it's a group or a single person. I pray all the time. It's the one thing that keeps me sane.

where 2 or 3 people gather in His name, He is among them.
so those who really want the power of the Holy Spirit can definitely go and pray in groups and they will be blessed.
