I know everyone says "they all do that" but l want to know why? are they looking for a punch? do they enjoy jabbing their claws into my testicles? Do they like the somesaulting part when l throw them off? How can l stop them doing if BEFORE they do it - l dont even see the scruffy little things coming. TY in advance ;-)

Instinctively (a whole evolutionary thing I won't get into) cats interpret being looked in the eyes as a threat. Of course, house cats have mostly overcome this, but it's still an instinct.

You being a cat hater probably make a point not to acknowledge the cat at all, and therefore are NOT looking into its eyes. Cat's instinctively -- especially when first meeting you -- interpret this inactivity as NON-threatening and immediately feel safe with you even though what you're trying to convey is "GET AWAY FROM ME!"

The best way to keep cats away from you is to immediately stare them, preferably while standing or best just slightly at the waist. They'll get the hint quick.

Humans have reversed some Physical Expressions for Animals.

For example: A Smile, Grin, and Displaying your teeth Display Fear, Nervousness & Agrration in that Order.

It is posible the sounds and expressions you are emiting are aimed at Human Beings and received differently by the Cats.

I suggest you give warning to owners, if they are understanding on humans they will listen and take steps to seperate you,.. although they may think the social interaction is going to convert you to a "Cat Person".

If you need to deal with the Cats one on one you need to smack their nose, hiss, and emit a low growl trying to show off ALL your teeth (clenth your teeth together). This will make the cat start to realize your not a nice person to be around and since your not part of their family/pride they will not think of you as a disaplinarine.

If I get THUMBS DOWN it's a sign that Cat People are takeing the Cat's side of things and aren't thinking of this from your perspective. Y!Ansers is full of people that won't listen to me when I explain Animal Behavior & Health,.. they pick the " Aww Cuddles & Kisses" and others that encourage poor behavior or will not assist/save lives.

I totally understand them coming up to you because the same thing happens to me. Prevention is better then letting them on you so you don't have to "throw them off".

I usually make a hissing sound or block them from coming up with a pillow. Its not that I hate cats, I'm allergic. It does seem that if there are 6 people in the room, the cat will try to get up on the one person that doesn't want it on them
Chalk it up to Murphy's Law.

Ok ok, let's be honest, they just loving clawing your testes satchel as Borat would say. And if it involves a ride on the somersault express afterwards they know they'll land on their feet while u're stuck nursing a punctured sack. Either way they win.

To really throw them off, pick them up and give them a great big cuddle - they would not see that coming and be off like a jet.

Sailortinkitty is way off...I do not believe SMACKING a cat or any other animal will get you the desired results you are looking for.
The best advice given here is to look at the cat for they do feel threatened when stared at and if you can't then I would suggest standing.
When you visit at another persons home their animals live there and you should respect that or not visit.

Cats...I love 'em. Having said this, you evidently don't. My advice would be this: cats tend to go to people who are calm and unintimidating. This often means that they'll ignore all the people fussing over them, cooing at them and making "coochee coochee coo" noises in their direction, preferring instead to grace less enthusiastic parties with their presence. Ways to avoid being a cat's chosen bed include making a lot of eye contact with them, being loud and making quick movements. Alternatively, wear lemon juice - they hate citrus smells :D A quick squirt of Jif and you should be fine...

I have heard cats are more often drawn to the person in the room who is the most indifferent to them since that person does not make sudden movements/noises/gestures/etc towards the cat and they therefore feel the most secure in approaching that individual....that is until they dig their claws into the groin of that person...Then as they are flung across the room they learn that
(a) They made a poor choice
(b) They in fact cannot fly

if you look at a cat or watch a cat they will be interested in you and come to you thats why when people are scared of cats and watch them to see where they are the cat comes to them cats dont like citrus smells so you could use it or tell people that cats bring you out it a rash and ask them to remove the cat first but you should be flattered cats are very picky animals

Cats are like ugly men.

They just can't imagine that anyone might not fancy them. So they dump themselves on your lap in the mistaken belief that you're just playing hard to get.

Put a cushion in your lap when you sit down. It probably won't stop them, but at least the 'family jewels' will be scratchproofed!

Cats or kittens can sense that you do not like them or have a fear of them, they are simply showing affection (no matter what thier strange ways) to get you to like them and play with them, you won't get them to stop unless you want to walk around with orange peel hanging off you as this deters them
