My boyfriend broke up with me 5 weeks ago. Stated he still loved me ad wanted to be with me in the future but needed to get his life together.

He had a falling out with a friend of mine about a year ago. After that he constantly told me how much he hated her, despite the fact that it upset me.

At a party just 6 weeks ago he wouldnt even talk to my friend. And almost didnt come b/c he didnt want to be in the same car as her.

Now I found out that he showed up at her b-day party and gave her a present. I happened to be out of town which is why I was not at the party. But he didnt know I wasnt going to be there.

What was his motive? Why is he going to my friends party? cosidering just a few weeks ago he couldnt stand to be near her?

He is 100% NOT "into" my friend, that I know nor is she "into" him. He didnt know I wasnt going to be there. In fact no one did until later that night. THe party was at a bar he always goes to which is how he found out, I am assuming.

I'd have a little "talk" with my supposed friend. He had to find out about the party somehow.

If you are 100% sure that he didn't know you wouldn't be there then I would forget about it and not i imagine a problem where none exists. If however your friend called him and told him you wouldn't be there it may be that there is more to this than meets the eye. How did he know about the party??

I could be that he has feelings for this friend which he is unable to "stand" in your presence, as he was not in a position to express those feeling without causing some sort of conflict.

first, he is lying about wanting to get back with you in the future and all that crap, he was just trying not to hurt your feelings. That's how men are. Why he went to the party I have no idea. He seems like a jerk to me though, so don't try to get him back.

he couldn't stand the fact that he did like her and that he could not have her because he was with you.and don't be so sure he did not know you were not going to be there. sounds to me that maybe him and this girl have been talking for awhile.and he just put on a front of not liking her. sorry.

That is a strange one, I think you need to talk with him openly and honestly. Of course, anyone who has been in a relationship knows how hard it can be to have that kind of conversation.

That is wierd. You could ask him about it (if you two are still speaking and are still friends), because that's the only way you'll know for sure.
