Im thinking of buying a small home in Turkey to use for holidays. I havent done any enquiries into this yet but wondered is there a certain length of time i can stay there? It would be for probably 2 weeks at a time but could i stay for 6 months? a year? indefinately?it would be near olu deniz im from uk.

The tourist visa expires after 3 months. You can renew it by leaving and re-entering the country. Alternatively you can apply for a residence permit (ikamet) from the "yabanci subesi" (foreign department) of the police, you can probably do this fairly simply if you can prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself. Ikamets are issued for varying amounts of time, from 6 months to 5 years. If you have an ikamet you never need to buy a visa on entry to Turkey which is handy as you can avoid the queues at the airport.

Turkish Visas are valid for 3 months for UK and US citizens (see source below). Anything beyond that would require you to renew the visa somehow, which may or may not require you to leave the country for some period of time.
