Freeview is DTT - digital terrestrial television. It is transmitted digitally (eg zeros and ones...) through your aerial as opposed to DCab (digital cable TV) and DSat (digital satellite television). As part of the package on all these services, it enables a range of radio stations to be received by your tv too. These stations are therefore also digital. This is why you can receive the digital only stations such as BBC 1Xtra and 6 Music alongside more conventionally traditionally analogue stations such as Radio 2.
