She may need her anals cleaned out, or she could have worms. Do you groom her, or do you take her somewhere? If you use a professional groomer, the groomer should express the anals. You may need to ask them to do it though. I'd start with the anals first.
If the groomer cleans the anals with every visit, then I'd say she has worms. When she goes outside to poo, ck the poo...worms can often be found in the poo...if not, take a fresh sample to the vet and have it cked of worms.
Good Luck!

Most likely worms. Or maybe have you bathed her lately? If you use irritating soap and it did not get rinsed off soon that could be it. I would recommend worming her to be on the safe side. If she continues, then try to find an association or pattern to the behavior. I know some dogs will scratch and have irritations from the food they eat. But I don't think they scratch their butt. Some dogs have food allergies. But safe bet - try worming first.

are you saying the skin on her butt.. or well, the place where there could be worms? If it's the skin, she could have allergies. My cocker had hot spots on his back side where'e he chew and itch all the time. She needs to go to a vet.

if she is scooting she may need her anal glads expressed and if she is itching with her teeth she may just need a nice bath to clean any dirt from around there.
