Our basement has one finished room and the rest is just bare stone walls - pretty creepy! Is there any quick ways for finishing a basement - I am not sure if whitewashing over the stonewalls would be an option - also the flooring at the moment its just concrete- I wont really be using the rooms down there but I want them to look more finished than they are!!

get a few gallons of drylok at the hardware store, and roll it on.

You can have it tinted, just like any paint.

An easy way to make a creepy basement feel better is to hang a cloth with backgroud over the concrete walls verses framing and drywalling and spending lots of money. As for the floor, vinal is relativly cheap and can add lots of character to a room or just paint the floor with a concrete paint.

After following the previous tip, paint a border of a different color around the area. Then put some throw rugs and a sofa, or an overstuffed chair.

use dryloc to paint the walls. go to your local carpet dealer pick up a cheap vinyl flooring. most carpet stores have sale items all the time. get the 12"x12" flooring that is easy to install. i specialize in wood floors but also work with carpet and vinyl flooring.
