It was a pelvic MRI, so the report covered a lot. The radiologist wrote, "intrahepatic dilatation noted." My dr. read the report and didn't say a word about it. So what I want to know is, is this something I should worry about? I know it has something to to with the liver.

intrahepatic means within the liver

Now what dilation could have to do with it, I'm not sure....let me check around.

It appears that the dilation has to do with a Bile Duct, and this is what I found.,,

Intrahepatic dilatation finding on MRI might suggest Caroli's disease (congenital cystic dilatation of the intrahepatic biliary ducts) which is inherited and can be associated with polycystic kidney disease. This disorder can be detected in childhood or remain undetected for years, sometimes finally presenting in adulthood with episodes of bacterial cholangitis (infection of the bile ducts.)

I would speak with the physician about this finding and request a referral to a liver specialist.

Intrahepatic (within the liver) biliary dilatation may be associated with Cholestasis (retention and accumulation of bile in the liver) or liver cell damage. Causes may be due to :-
(1) Viral hepatitis.
(2) Drugs, e.g., Chlorpromazine.
(3) Cirrhosis (some cases)
(4) Cholangitis (inflammation of the bile ducts).
(5) Infiltration of the liver, e.g., by carcinoma.
(6) Rare disorders, e.g., biliary cirrhosis.
Consult your doctor.

it could be a dilatation of the intrahepatic biliary system. Maybe it wasn't significant and no other anomalies were noted so your dr considered it to be normal.
you may ask a seconf oppinion from a gastroenterologist.

Hepatic canals are dilatated because of some obstruction in liver main canal or extra hepatic canals. You should ask for complete diagnostic.
