i really want my pup to learn some tricks, any ideas? she's 5 months old, and she learned sit within 3 days of us having her and lay down a few days after that. she uses hand signals for those most of the time and she is getting better with stay.

how should we go about teaching her to roll over? she's starting to learn "paw" but thats easy since we can grab her paw a few times first, but i cant really roll her across the floor for "roll over". if we try to use a treat (and she's never learned anything for a treat, but she still gets them occasionally cause she's so gosh-darn cute) she is too focused on the treat to figure out whats going on, and she's got her head in the air so she isnt in the best position to roll. so... any ideas on how to work on this one?

or, any ideas on some new tricks to teach her? she's pretty bright so i wanted to "take advantage" of that since most of my other dogs never really got past sit/lay/stay/shake....

oh she also knows "squeek" and will squeek her toy when you say it, and she knows her toys by name. it was funny, she has "purple bear" and "bear". bear is white and lives at my BF's work and is filthy to the point of not being white, the other day both were at home and she had bear in her mouth, i told her "thats icky sweety, drop it and get purple bear" and she did. my friend was sitting there and was like "how did you just do that". if you tell her to get a specific toy she will, so what i really want to learn is roll over, and maybe play dead, but thats not really a priority. i'd also like to teach her to keep a treat on her nose, but i dont know if that will ever happen, but then again, i dont know where i would start for that one

Just be consistant with asking and not rewarding her until she does it right. Don't get mad or slap her around.. HEEE but your on the right track. By the time my pup was 5 months old she could; walk on her hind feet, dance in a circle, roll over, sit, stay, down, load up on the three wheeler - truck and so on. You just have to have patience and pick one thing at a time. She is now a year old - has about 10 toys and know them all by name. She even helps my husband put his boots away after he gets them off when he comes home. knows just were to put them. All this done by making sure we did not use too many words and stay consitant with what we wanted and reward her always. not just with food but rubbing her chest and lots of praise.

Dogs really resond well with rubbing their chest and under their neck. patting them on the head is not as rewarding. My dog Blue (aussie) will do anything for a treat and even talks to us with her whines and squeeks too. Pretty much knows what she wants now because we pay enough attention and take the time to learn about her and she learns about what we want.

Always provide her boundries! Like not jumping unless asked and so on. You must be the lead of the pack! She sounds like a very smart dog, have fun with her.

One trick I taught my dog when she was just a few months old was to "turn" around in a complete circle. It was quite easy. Have a treat in your hand and close to your dog's body. Have her follow by turning her body keeping treat very close to her body but out of reach. It took me a day to teach my dog and she does 4,5,6 turns in a row. Practice over and over until she turns in a circle on her own. Repeat "TURN" as the command.

I also, took this trick and modified it so that she would "turn" on her back hind legs and perform her "ballerina" trick. Same concept only you first have to assist her with the balance and make her follow the treat while standing.

I recently won second place at a talent contest for these and some other tricks my dog can do. The dog who beat us could actually say "I love you". Not much to top that! Good Luck.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMQiv

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Hello -- I have an idea -- Take her to PETSMART they will train
her. If not you can try it yourself you can get a book on training.
You should get the small dog milk bones when you are training.
