The best way to keep a puppy from chewing up valuable things is to never let him/her start! You kennel her in a right sized kennel when you are not able to directly watch him or her and work with him/her. Put her favorite chew toy in there, with a blanket (unless she chews it, then remove it!) If she chews that, then give her a teddy bear that she can warm herself against that is designed with no eyes for puppies. Her kennel will become a comfort zone for her and you BOTH! When she is out of it and begins to chew something, tell her "no" firmly, give her a chew toy, and pet her and say "good girl/boy!" This is your chewie! Have fun. You will like her if you give her her own safety zone.

Right, first things first. Try not to yell at him for finding something that he may have chewed hours ago - this will do him or you no good. Sounds to me as if your pup 'Zero' is a bit bored. Invest in some toys, and a bit more attention. Reward good behaviour with small treats and soon your pup will be good in no time. Remember - the more you spend time with him, the better your dog will behave. Try not to loose your temper, be patient and don't give up! If all else fails, he may need some interaction with other dogs. Look in your local community newspaper for doggy-training schools.

2 suggetions for you that have worked for me. I used these 2 things together. You can buy a bitter spray that is safe for your dog to ingest but they hate the taste, this you can spray on table and chair legs and on anything that water will not harm, it has no smell ,just tastes bad, also keep a small squirt gun or spary bottle filled with a vinegar water solution, whenever you catch him chewing on something u dont want him to give him a quick spray in the mouth area, never near his eyes, and then quickly give him one of his own toys when he takes his toy praise him and love him for chewing his own toy. these are harmless ways to controll his chewing keep persistant and it will work.. hope this helps.

along with all of the other information given by your other posters (most of it was very good) dont give your pup any toys that look like things he shouldnt chew on. no old sneakers, or plush sneaker or anything like that. theyll misunderstand, chew on the real thing, and now even know why they get in trouble.

Your puppy is teething and this is normal. You just have to remember to keep things out of reach just like you would with a toddler. You can also try some Bitter Apple spray. However, my puppy kind of likes it so it doesn't do much good.

all puppies chew, everything they can get their mouths on. buy lots & lots of rawhide. keep him in his crate when you can supervise him. put everything you don't want him to chew, out of his reach. it's as much your fault as his.
the good news is that he will out grow it.
