That is true: Isolationism kept the US mostly out of European affairs before World War II. The US has traditionally been a very isolationist country, particularly when it had little need for international trade. With the demands for international trade, it is hard to stay isolationist in a modern world. Especially when terrorists fly airplanes into US buildings.

Don't take my word for it, but I think it's TRUE. That was the policy prescribed by G. Washington, declaring that the US should take care of themselves and not worry about anyone else.
