1. "Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty."
2. "As to the question whether the souls will recognize each other in the spiritual world: this fact is certain; for the Kingdom is the world of vision where all the concealed realities will become disclosed. How much more the well-known souls will become manifest. The mysteries of which man is heedless in this earthly world, those he will discover in the heavenly world, and there will he be informed of the secret of truth; how much more will he recognize or discover persons with whom he hath been associated. Undoubtedly, the holy souls who find a pure eye and are favored with insight will, in the kingdom of lights, be acquainted with all mysteries, and will seek the bounty of witnessing the reality of every great soul. Even they will manifestly behold the Beauty of God in that world."
3. "... a love that one may have entertained for any one will not be forgotten in the world of the Kingdom. Likewise, thou wilt not forget (there) the life that thou hast had in the material world."

We have a pretty good picture of what happens to our bodies after death... But what happens to our minds? Isn't that what you are really asking here?
As to what your mind will encounter... the after death experience is very likely an equal to the before life experience. What do recall about the preconception period of your non-existence? Probably nothing... After death is probably just like that.
I think it's safe to say that your "not being" before life and the likelihood of a similar "not being" after death will be the same kind of experience, i.e., no perceptible experience of being at all... and that isn't to bad to deal with, is it?

Judgment.
Just as it is destined that each person dies only once and after that comes judgment, so also Christ died only once as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again but not to deal with our sins again. This time he will bring salvation to all those who are eagerly waiting for him.
Hebrews 9:27-28
Your body is sown mortal and rises incoruptable.
It is the same way for the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies, which die and decay, will be different when they are resurrected, for they will never die. Our bodies now disappoint us, but when they are raised, they will be full of glory. They are weak now, but when they are raised, they will be full of power. They are natural human bodies now, but when they are raised, they will be spiritual bodies.

Simple answer: The energy of our life becomes a part of reality. The question is, what is the fabric of reality? If it consists of additional dimensions, as string theory proposes, then our life energy may be joining a multitude of dimensions that we know nothing about.
For simplicity sake, let's call your life energy, your soul. Your soul is formed by everything you do, everything you say, and every thought that enters your mind. To nurture your sould you need to seek truth, practice love and relish everything in the world that is beautiful.
Every atom is make up of quarks which in turn is energy waves locked in place. Your consciousness is also energy waves which are used to move quarks which move atoms and show up as areas of activitation on PET scans. Your consciousness is a manifestation of your soul. It is real. It is the most precious think you have. Nurture it.
