One of my friends has a 16 year old kid and she just reccently found out her husband abused him for 12 years. Sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse. She doesn't want to report him to the cops even though I told her that's the way to go.

I generally just goof off on this site but every once in a while I see something (such as your question) that just absolutely enrages me....Your friend is a sick person, that in my opinion should have been sterilized prior to being allowed to have children, and I hope she gets locked up for enabling this to happen to her child! Do you honestly think that her child deserved all this? If she was not prepared to take care of her child(ren) the way they deserve then she certainly should have thought about other options such as adoption, abortion, etc.

OMG this is awful....that poor kid..she has to report him, he could be doing it to other kid...it's obvious this person is a sex beast and an abuser...Christ i cannot understand why she hasn't had his dirty butt slammed in jail.....i so feel for this lad....imagine what his head is like....i sure hope that this kids is out of the way now...he should not even be in the same house as this freak...grrrr i get angry when i read stuff like this....why don't you report him instead of her, or have the lad report him...this fella should be euthanized.....i know what i'd do if i was in that situation, i would take matters into my own hands and have the bastard sliced up.....and i'd do time for it...i really feel so sad for that kid, he did not deserve such a crappy life in the hands of this pedophile..people should know about this guy...he needs to be stopped in case he does it to someone else.....shame on you friend for not getting his *** in jail...does she have no love for her son, he must be going through hell....i pity her for being so ignorant...she's just as bad a the abuser and should join him in jail...i'm outraged

If anyone knows about child abuse they are responsible to report it. The mother is responsible to protect her child but you are also responsible. Call the cops immediately.

She doesn't want to report him? Let's simplify this ...
1. She has chosen her husband over her child by choosing not to report him and by not immediately filing for divorce.
2. She does not love her child the way a mother should, since she obviously has no urge to protect him.
3. You have knowledge of this happening, so it is now your responsibility to report it. I'm tired of the "I don't want to get involved" attitude, it's 99.9 per cent of what's wrong with society, no one ever wants to get involved. Pick up your phone, call the police, and cease a friendship with the person who allows this to happen to their child.
And yes, by not reporting it, she is giving her consent. Silence is compliance.

She needs it report him to the police and the child need Therapy. She also need to kick him out if she is still with him...are you sure she hasn't been abuse because to protect him sounds like Battered Womens Syndrome...

If she doesn't go to the cops, she is just as guilty. They will hold her responsible for not protecting her child. They both need to be horse whipped. That kid needs to get out of there pronto before he gets killed.

why would she not want to report such abuse???? this is her child that was too young to defend himself!!!!!! i love my husband more than i ever thought was possible but if he did anything to my kids his a s s would be in jail faster than anything!!!! NOONE TOUCHES MY KIDS!!!!!!
what kind of messege is she sending her kids? that it is okay for this to happen cause nothing will be done about it!!!! what a shame that she doesn't love her kids a little more than that!!!!

If she doesn't report him to the police, then she is an accomplice to his abuse, and can and SHOULD be arrested as well.
Enabling her spouse to abuse her son is just as horrible as abusing him herself.
Shame on her.
