I'm just wondering how much money do their teams pay them to race, and how much money do they get when they win major races ie. Tour de France

professional riders are usually salaried and recieve bonuses for winning races, these are usually shared out amongst the team. as in the tour de france the ''domestiques'' are there to assist the team leader along, and to win the odd stage for the team, but mostly to get the leader as close to the front of the peleton as possible, the higher their team finishes in both individual and team positions the more they get paid..
it can also cost £1m+ a season to keep a top team on the road, so team bosses demand good performances.

The top guys make a nice living but there are a lot of pros who will never race the Tour De France let alone in europe.
I can't give you a number but there are div3 riders in the USA that ride for 200$month with out health care with out alot of other things. They do it because it is their passion not because it pays the bills.
Check out the UCI they can anwser the pay wages of riders.

It's like any other big time sport - the few guys at the top are making millions in salary, plus millions in bonus, plus millions in endorsements.

Below that level, it goes down fast. So guys that rode on Lance's Tour de France teams were making only $100-$200k (in Euro equivalent), and, like baseball cycling has "minor leagues" where even though they are technically "pro" you really can't make a living at it, or at best you make a decent middle class living. There are thousands of men and women around the world at that level.

$60k plus for the Tour-couldn't say exactly- however if they are doing well top riders will share money with the riders and that could raise their pay significantly.

Tops for riders was Lance was 2 years ago he made $17mil of of sponsorhips and endorsments for win #7.

Saw the Lance thing in SI magazine-

I cant give exact fiqures, but i heard when Lance Armstrong was racing, he was making around 3million a year. not bad just for riding a bike. i read in a book (Lance Armstrong's War, by Daniel Coyle) that the lowest paid rider makes $83,000. you could definately live off that
