My cat (six months old), is the most un-affectionate cat I have ever had, he is not interested on sitting on my lap or paying any attention to me or my flatmates unless he wants to be fed or play with his toys, he bites if you try to pick him up or stroke him and grows ten thousand extra legs if you ever wanna give him a cuddle. That is except for the middle of the night when he climbs into the bed with us and purrs and rolls around and bunts and cuddles up and rolls on his back, he loves his tummy being tickled and being scratched behind the ears - then the sun comes up and he turns to his miserable self again??? it's like Jekyll and Hyde! What is with him??

Two things to remember: First, he's still a kitten. Actually he's at the worst stage of being a kitten. Big enough to get into trouble, young enough that he doesn't have any brains. (Kind of like a teenager) As he gets a little older he may mellow out a bit. I wouldn't judge his personality based on what you are seeing right now.

Second thing is that cats are by nature nocturnal. Night time is his time. That's when he's awake and feeling good. Not much you can do about that except to hope that as he grows he adjusts his schedule some.

Hi Brett. Firstly, I can totally sympathise. I had a cat that came to me for affection, not the other way around. But after a while I came to love his independent behaviour. At 6 months Kitty may be due for his sterilsation, and he should soon calm down after that. Show him affection, don't encourage your flat mates to play fight with him as this encourages him to bite more. Head to a pet store or discount warehouse and find some cat toys, they absolutely love bells and feathers on the end of string. Be patient and don't get mad. Cats have their own personalities and your Kitty just is in his own world. One day he will let you into his world..if your lucky/ Goodluck.

My cat is 11 years old and he still wants attention late at night often times he comes up on the area in between my legs and my arms and head I sleep curled up on my stomach and licks my face when I'm trying to sleep I let him be affectionate for a few minutes then gently nudge him to move. he does and has his own pillow never has bitten me but he used to wrestle w/my feet when he was a kitten. But the rest of the day unless he's hungry he pretty much ignores me. Most of the time he sleeps in my room on my bed.

I think your kitten needs to be more active during the day. If possible, try giving your kitten more playtime during the day. You can also try playing with your kitten for an hour right before you go to bed. Hopefully that will make him tired so you can both sleep at night.

Is he neutered? Cats that haven't been neutered tend to be a little psychotic because of all the hormones running through them. My roommate's cat did the same thing, but after we spayed her, she is calming down.

CATS SEEM TO SLEEP MOSTLY ALL DAY
DON'T LET THEM
KEEP WAKING THEM UP WHEN YOU SEE THAT
THEN THEY WILL SLEEP AT NIGHT
