Okay, I went through this last year so I am going to give you some advice from long personal experience!

My daughter has very fine hair as well, and you have to go to the store and get the superfine lice comb. The comb that comes with the lice treatment will not work. Plus, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. The comb does NOT get the eggs out! It only gets rid of the live bugs and the nits. You must section off the hair about an 8th of an inch for each piece and go through strand-by-strand getting out the eggs. It is very time consuming. It took me over 8 hours to go through my daughter's hair, and it was short. But you HAVE to do that step. If you don't, the eggs will hatch and you start all over.

Success is a few steps away.
Step 1: Wash hair with the lice shampoo. Leave on for 10 minutes and no longer. Use Rid brand....no other brand and no el cheapos...you get what you pay for!

Step 2: Buy the fine lice comb and comb thru the hair. I personally sat my kid in the bathtub and used conditioner instead of the nit/comb out gel. Conditioner worked better and counteracted the lice shampoo's effect on the hair. Go through the hair several several times making sure you have all the live bugs out!

Step 3: After the hair is dry, start sectioning off the hair using bobby pins, clips and rubberbands to go through it section-by-section (SMALL SECTIONS) looking for eggs. The eggs cling to the hair shaft so you must look on all sides of the hair (top, sides, under). They can blend into the hair so look closely! You'll need to pick them off with your fingernails . If you have no nails, you can use a pair of tweezers. Throw the eggs in a bag so you can make sure that you get rid of them all!

Step 4: Wash everything in your child's room and sweep thoroughly.

Some advice from personal experience: Don't buy the Nix version of the lice shampoo. The current lice are immune to it! Don't do the mayo and/or petroleum jelly. It simply doesn't do a thing except grease up your kid's hair. Take the time to go through the hair and pick out the eggs. That is the ONLY way to have success.
If you do this, you WILL get rid of them! But you must commit to doing it thoroughly! GOOD LUCK!

Adding some info:
Dog shampoo/flea shampoo DOES NOT WORK.
Dying your child's hair DOES NOT WORK.
Mayo and/or petroleum jelly DOES NOT WORK.
The only thing that works is killing the lice then picking out the eggs. It's tedious, but if done right, you'll be done with the bugs for good!

Cut the hair short. Boil camphor and neem leaves in coconut / mustard oil. Apply overnight atleast thrice a week. Use an anti - lice shampoo like medikar.

Another treatment is as below:-
Pyrethrin-Piperonyl Butoxide

Pyrethrin-piperonyl butoxide is available in a 0.33% shampoo or shampoo and conditioner marketed as R&C Shampoo and Conditioner and Pronto Shampoo.

Pyrethrin is derived from the Chrysanthemum flower. Piperonyl butoxide acts synergistically to increase the effectiveness of the pyrethrin.
INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Apply the product on dry hair.
2. Leave on the hair for 10 minutes.
3. Shampoo the hair. The product is then washed off.
4. Repeat treatment after 7-10 days.

Keep strict hygeine. isolate combs, towels and bed linen.

Instead of using the comb that comes w/ the treament, look for an ACE brand come, the brand that most guys have in their back pocket, but this one is a VERY fine toothed comb and is two sided. I mostly found them at Wal-Mart in a package by itself but if you can't find it there, look for it at Sally's Beauty Supply. With my niece we wouldn't use the treament just because it seemed to never work. Instead we found that a dandruff shampoo called Tegrin w/ Tea Tree Oil, it's in a white and green bottle and kinda stinks but it helped we then put conditioner in her hair, loads of it, and comb her hair in sections in the bath tub so we wouldn't have to worry about them crawling around on her clothes when they fell out. To get the tangles out start from the ends and gently work your way up, then comb normally. Blowdry her hair, then take a break for her sake. After a while the only thing you can do is continue combing her hair w/ the ACE comb with the hair dry or pick and kill the lice yourself. We continued this for about 3 weeks and she is lice free! Make sure to wash her bed sheets, blankets and pillows more often than usual.

After using a product to kill the nits and lice you will have to do the removal by hand. Upon finding a nit (you'll need a bright light or natural sunlight) pinch the nit and slide off the end of the hair strand. This is very timely but works.

You are going to think this is really nasty, but trust me, it works. As a child i had thick curly light blonde hair. I had a similar situation where the lice just wouldnt die. We used dog shampoo and it killed the lice. Afterwards we shampooed with regular shampoo to rid the smell and combed it through to get the eggs out.

i know its a very big problem first of all if you are using a very strong oder oil fo her just stop it try not tying her hair very tight as this can cause her hair to sweat more and the scalp becomes dirty other thing there is a medicine called gamascab which can be apllied mixing with water and diluting it and then using a cotton just apply on the scalp nicly like you do in an oil massage then tie a scarp and let it penetrate nicly do not let it come in contact with you eyes or mouthleave it for one day then wash it and use a very smalll bristle comband remove it off or just lightly pull as once they are dead will come out easily do this 2 times and you will see the diff but caution it should not go in your mouth or eyes hope i have helped you

stop treating her. the chemicals used in most treatments can be dangerous if used too often.

to safely kill the lice and in most cases the nits , I do the following with 100% success:

I make up a 5% mixture of common salt to a bottle of shower gel. ( some gels dont like the salt, I use dencorub shower gel), apply it to hair, leave for 5 - 10 minutes, rinse out.

the salt draws the moisture from their bodies and they die, some take a little longer but they all do die.

The gel can dry the scalp, if so dilute the amount of salt in gel with water.

I very rarely have to reapply as it seems to get them all in one hit, but it is prudent to reapply after several days.

No toxic chemicals no lice.

Also it is a waste of time boiling sheets etc.

Use your finger nail to get the nits off. Have you done the mayonaise thing with a plastic cap on it ALL day. I hear that works very well to get rid of lice and nits.

Good luck!!

Years back i saw a show on head lice,it may sound odd.But the Doctor said to use olive oil rub it in real good and the wrap a plastic bag around (over) her head, like you would a towel.KEEP an eye on her while wearing the bag, leave it on for 30mins.Then wash real good because of the oil.Good luck in what ever you do.
