I am beginning to wonder if Fuji has some problem with that happening throughout their line of entry level digicams. I had 5 A500s in my lab, 2 of them had this same problem, as well as an A300.

Check the batteries. In fact, leave them out for a day or two, sometimes that will fix problems.

If it's under warranty, send it in for service.

If not, I'd try returning it to the dealer, maybe they are aware of the problem as well. You never know, they might replace it or give some credit toward another model.

Is your lens on tight? Is it compatable with your camera? Is there enough charge in your camera? Is it on autofocus? get a Nikon D80.
