I'm not sure what a stone is, but the secret to gaining weight is............
calculating calories.
Do this....
add up and calculate the total amount of calories you take in on an average day. (this should include everything from the meat you eat for dinner to the candy you snack on while driving)
You obviously have a high metabolism, which means you're probably a very active person. If you simply start eating more, you'd probably have a hard time gaining weight, so here is another secret that not many people know about.
If you want to gain weight (i know this is going to sound crazy) you should go on a highly restrictive diet. The fact is that if you are used to eating whatever you want, then you probably take in quite a few calories on a daily basis. If you suddenly drastically decrease the amount of calories you take in daily, regardless how many times a day you eat, your body will think you are starving. if you do this for one week, then that will be long enough to put your body in 'starvation mode' and it will then retain most of what you put in.
After that week, you should then start eating very heavy meals, but only once or twice a day. People think that eating all the time will help you put on weight, but in all actuality, that helps build your metabolism. Forget the unhealthy eating, you can gain weight naturally and safely.
1) Go on the diet for one week (eat as few times a day as possible, with the lowest amount of calories at each meal)
2) After that one week, still eat the same number of times in a day, but make those meals very high in calories - more than you take in now (use the number calculation I mentioned before). continue to eat this way for 3 weeks and then weigh yourself to see if there's a difference.
Hope this helps

I had a similar problem. I'm 5'10 and also weighed 10 stone for years. Junk and unhealthy food is not the answer. I finally discovered that the reason I didn't put on weight was because I didn't ever really get hungry and I would miss meals because I couldn't be bothered - or didn't have time to eat. Now I make sure that I have three proper meals a day - I mean a full breakfast then a proper lunch and a 3 course dinner. Eat healthy food - for example for lunch I might have a salad, followed by grilled chicken and then some fruit. Also, I don't drink loads of beer - in an average week, I have about 10 pints - I mostly drink red wine now (good for the heart, I'm told). Also, do some exercise - you don't have to do loads, just be sensible. I am now 11.5 stone and because of my slim build I have excellent muscle definition and a pretty good six-pack. By the way, I'm 42 but I am assured that I look less than 35.
Also, if you're worried, visit your GP, you might have a problem with your thyroid.

Eat lots of powdered shakes and pasta, and start doing something like rowing. I tell people this all the time, but I swear the best possible thing a man can do to bulk up is rowing. My friend in high school was tall with a really handsome face, but he was so underweight that he didn't seem that attractive. When he went to university he joined the rowing team and after a year he had gained 4 stone and immediately he got a modeling contract! He has been a professional model ever since. Not saying it will turn you into a model, but rowing broadens the back, bulks up the chest and legs and puts meat on your bones. It was incredible and I'll never forget it.

My hubby was 10 stone for years and years and is 6 foot. When i first met him when he was 29 he ate three huge meals a day and snacked in between and never put on weight. As he reached his mid thirties he just put on weight for no reason and he now weighs 12 and half stone.
I know this doesn't help your situation now but your body is meant to be the way it is, you may just have a fast metabolism. I have always been underweight and am a UK size 6 and I eat like a horse - just cannot put the weight on.
You need to carry on eating sensibly not stuff yourself with unhealthy food as this could have an impact on your health.
If you are really concerned you can ask to see a nutritionist who may be able to give you advice.

There was a program called "super size me" where a guy ate nothing but McDonald's for a whole month.
Spurlock, age 33, was healthy and slim, with a body weight of 185.5 lb (84.1 kg). Spurlock's height is 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m). After thirty days, he gained 24.5 lb (11.1 kg), an increase of 13% of his body mass; his Body Mass Index raised from 23.2 (within the 'healthy' range of 19-25) to 27 ('overweight'). He also experienced mood swings, sexual dysfunction, and nearly catastrophic liver damage. It took fourteen months to lose the weight he gained and return to normal.
The alternative is to fall for a good woman, and in a few years you will put on the weight.LOL!
By the way why would you want to do this I had the same problem for years until I turned about 28 when I started to put on weight.

DONT EAT JUNK FOOD MAN! im a 5ft7 man, and over the course of 3 months ive put on 1.5 stone (i now weigh 11 stone). i have a fast metabolism too. i think the key is eating **** loads, primarily of protein, but also carbohydrate and vergetables/ fruit. then work out really hard and really force yourself about once a week. then rest for the week and eat. if you dont rest your muscles cant recover let alone grow. and they will grow from the food fuel! i really dont recommend putting on 2 stones of fat, its not good for your health. you should try to find a good way for you to put on muscle. maybe talk to a physician or personal trainer about this? if not, heres a site which could help you: www.musclegaintips.com . im not sure if this is all true but the techniques really helped me - eating lots, working out hard once a week etc. the site is for guys with fast metabolisms dont bother with fat man, its not healthy. dont give up on putting on muscle!

My husband has the same problem. The advices from his doctor and fitness trainer are the same: Weight Lifting and Eat protein rich food.
Gaining weight can be harder than losing weight, be patient.
you might be blessed (cursed?) with strong metabolism, eating junk food might not help your cause and it's bad for your health in the long run.
Good Luck!

To gain weight quickly make sure your diet is sensible as not to damage your health, but as a suggestion increase your intake of carbs, up the amount of calories you intake a day but try to use sensible high calorie food, but the easiest way would be to eat more of the "bad" foods as suggested above
