The type of exercise is important. It would be better to spend a longer time doing a less intense exercise than only 20mins working your butt off. Of course this takes a longer time and it seems it is time that you haven't got.
The intake of food is critical, in terms of exercise it is so difficult to burn off excess calories, it is far better not to take those calories in the first place. e.g. it takes approx 1 hour to burn off 500 calories at moderate exercise.
Take an accurate account of what you eat, if you really want to lose weight and consider how long in exercise terms it takes to burn off that chocolate bar (1/2 hour) you wouldn't eat it.
1. Decide you really want to lose weight and settle for a realistic target.
2. Educate yourself about Carbs, protein, fats and healthy eating.
3. Eat healthy foods and limit rubbish.
4. Aim a steady loss of between 1 to 2 lbs a week.
5. View it as a life change not a short term fix.
Personally I vow never to exceed a 30 inch waist. I absolutely believe I will do what I have to to achieve this. I eat chocolate and drink alcohol but in sensible amounts. Fortunately I enjoy distance running and this allows me to achieve calorie balance. If you eat more than you ought, you'll gain weight.
Good luck and hope you get the balance right, it feels great when you do!

The trick is to burn more calories than you're actually eating. And don't forget that muscles weighs more than fat so the scales may not show much change but it's the inches you'll have lost that count.

Also a lot of people think that because they go to the gym, fish & chips with a couple glasses of wine afterwards, for example, will be ok. This is not the case if you want to lose weight. You may have burned 500 calories at a gym session but those fish & chips and wine could amount to 800 calories and more (by the way did you know a bottle of wine has as many calories as 3 chocolate bars - scary!).

Soup.

Saute some onions, peppers & celery in a frying pan. Meanwhile in a saucepan bring to the boil a tin of tomatoes & about a tinful of water. Chop about half a cabbage (white seems best). You can add seasoning garlic & herbs to taste, I noramally add a few jalepeno peppers as well to make it a bit spicier (this should make enough for a couple of days). I normally blitz it some but you need some chunks in there as the idea behind the soup is that it burns off more calories while eating it than is contained in the ingredients. Like I say play with the flavours as it can become bland.

Try it for 4/5 days at a 3 times a day but you need to make sure you're getting some protein & carbohydrates too. I've tried this a number of times always with good results, lost about 2 stone over the last 2 months & feel great.

Hey girlie... you're like me! I've been there hon, the only thing that started shifting the weight for me was weight watchers. It taught me loads about eating well, and I was really surprised by some 'healthy' foods. The reason it works is that you eat a certain number of points every day or else eat from a list of foods and your body doesn't think your starving it and the weight literally falls off slowly and steadily and stays off. Good luck! I hope it works for you.... the benefit of weight watchers is you can eat anything you want, but you just take it into account in your points for the day. Don't give up!!!

There's no healthy quick fix. If you lose weight too quickly, you are risking your health.

Sadly, you can't target cetain areas of your body and say "I want to be thinner there". Weight is all relative to what you put in your mouth. You need to eat less calories than you burn. Keep up the exercies and try Weight Watchers or Slimming World but you must stick to the diet religiously. You will need to change your eating habits permanently.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Stay motivated, and get up and walk every day. I seriously lost all my weight starting off my day on my walk.

Good LUCK!

Do you want to lose weight, or lose fat?
The best method for losing a lot of weight very quickly is to get your legs chopped off. Bingo, nearly half your bodyweight gone in an instant!

Losing fat, however, is a different matter.
Regarding food:
It depends what you mean by "eating healthily".
You may be eating healthy food, but if you're eating too much of it you'll not lose weight. If you work on the principle that:

Energy in - Energy out = Energy stored as fat

Energy in is food.
Energy out is expenditure of your body, (basal metabolism, exercise, excreta).
Anything left over is stored as fat.

So, there are two ways to reduce energy stored as fat.
Reduce energy in, increase energy out.

Reduce energy in = Eat less.

Increase energy out =
1) Exercise more.
2) Poop more.
3) Increase your basal metabolism.

Healthy food usually contains more fibre, so that takes care of number 2 (smirk).

Strength training addresses the other two because: A) you're burning energy actually doing the training, and B) your muscle mass increases which increases your basal metabolism. Muscle burns energy even when it's at rest. More muscle = more energy burnt even whilst sleeping.

I hope you find success.
Best regards.

Fast for two days. This will make your skin lovely. Then do the special k two bowls a day and a proper meal,no snacks for a fortnight, while doing a gym class like spin (really loses fat) or any other cardio workout three times a week, plus gentle walking everyday.I lost nearly 2st last years on a smilar regime. After the two weeks of spcial k diet your stomach will have shrank a good bit, from then on just don't overdo carbs like white bread and white pasta and avoid junk food.

Good luck you can do it!!!

you're not doing enough, the way i see it, you keep doing

cardio excercises, which is good, since it increases your

heart beat, but all those excercises are merely warm-up

excercises, try push-ups, stomach crunches and.. wel..

running... weights could help, the basic excercises,

and i suggest aerobics. Trust me...

i used to weight about 160, now i weight about 145 and

have an average sized body, (i asked people out on the

street Lol! no kidding!) once you lose weight, you lose

all those annoying problems on your bum, but my best

advice? consult a person in the gym.
