I have naturally curly, frizzy hair which is an absolute nightmare! I can straighten it myself no problem, but it doesn't stay straight for long. It starts to flick out and become very frizzy! What products can I use to prevent this happening and are there any other thechniques you could recommend to get the desired style longer? Any help or suggestions would be great! Having my winter ball tomorrow night and don't wanna look like Macy Gary by 9 o'clock!!!

Im a hairstylist with very curly hair as well..It all starts with the right shampoo and conditoner then styling products not to mention the right hair cut as well..If your hair is curly i recommend alot of long layers ..Then for shampoo i recommend biolage shampoo hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Then i would also by there conditioning treatement.I would purchase all the products at a hairsalon. Also since u straighten your hair like i do also i would buy a great flat iron..I bought a flat iron thats the equivalent to a chi on ebay for a round 30 dollars works great. If u are going to straighten your hair make sure your using a hair protetcor of some sort you spray it before u straighen your hair so you dont burn your hair..Then i would by some sort of polisher or gloss drops to use after you straighten u only need a tiny bit u want your hair to look shiny but not greasy.I now all these things cost alot but our hair does not stay pretty on its own unfortunately its all about using professional tools products and shampoos..Also some salons do chemical straightning if your tired of dealing with your curly hair this may help to tame it some..It can be expensive but lasts up to three months before u need to redo..Also if u do this make sure you keep using the conditioning treatments to keep your hair soft..The best way to condition your hair is to use a havey conditioner apply genoursly then put a plastic cap over head leave on to generate heat to scalp .leave on for A Few hours then rinse..Buying the right flat iron for hard to straighten hair makes a huge difference as well.. i use true ceramic pro..

Did you just stick your finger into an electrical outlet? Is your hair two feet taller than what it was yesterday? You may have caught a case of the frizz, and you need to read below.
Instructions
STEP 1: Choose a hairdresser experienced in curly/dry hair.

STEP 2: Have your hairdresser help you choose a hairstyle that is easy to maintain--preferably one that just requires a wet-and-go approach.

STEP 3: Once you have your favored style, visit your stylist at least 4 times a year to trim split ends.

STEP 4: Don't let your hairstylist use a razor to layer your hair (although layering is good.) Razors contribute to split ends.

STEP 5: Don't wash hair every day. This kind of hair needs the natural oils from your scalp to reduce frizz.

STEP 6: To upkeep your desired style, just wet hair with some conditioner on non-washing days (rinse thoroughly).

STEP 7: Avoid using hairdryers unless necessary. Blowdrying hair dries it out.

STEP 8: Believe it or not, grease, mousses and gels make caring for this kind of hair harder!! Chemical build-ups require more washing than is healthy.

STEP 9: If you must use products, use high-quality, health-food store or salon products that leave little residue.

STEP 10: Do not brush, unless you want a 'fro.

STEP 11: Love your hair! Many are envious of the regal quality of curly hair!

Matrix hair products are good the sleek one inparticular should give you a straight sleek shine if you use your hair straightners too. Just make sure that your not drying your hair upside down you obviously dont need the volume and try and section your hair as much as possible even if this means you are straightening only little bits at a time the straightness should last longer. Have you tried to dry your hair with a blow drying brush instead of justa hair dryer when i use mine i bearly have to use my straightners coz its already nearly straight. Make sure you use products like a cream or serum, a little bit while wet a tiny bit on each section after you straighten and then smooth the end when finished try not to put too much on the root of the hair as this might make it look greasy. Good Luck.

Oh yer and for a more permanent look why dont ya have it chemically straightened!

I have super curly hair too and I straighten it as well. In this winter weather it does frizz. But I have found that if I spray with GHD straightening oil then straighten it it works well, also after I add serum to seal out the water that causes frizz, and hairspray stops frizz too.

Also a great tip is use curling irons to create big pamela anderson style curls, loose curls, your natural curl will hold it beautifully and they look great. Hairspray in place then sue serum to create gloss. Ultra glamour, also I use a Alice band (sparkly for a ball) to push the hair back in big curls, it looks ace,

I got my curling tongues from argos for abotu a fiver, and they work great. GHD are my straighteners and they are the best I find. x

It might sound minging but don't wash it until after your night out. Curly hair is dryer than straight and the frizz factor is worse after washing. If you need to freshen it up wash with conditioner (and rinse obviously). Use serum when its still wet and use a heat protective spray before blow drying. Section your hair off - the smaller the section, the more control you'll have over it when drying. Then you can use your straighteners if you need to - just remember to use your heat protective spray beforehand.

Hi, I would recommend the John Frieda Frizz ease range. run the serum through wet hair and blow dry it straight. You also need to use a leave in condittioner to battle the dryness; umberto gianini do some really nice ones- I also like their definition creams which you can run through hair once its dry and straightened. Basically, look out for serums which will tame frizz, and most importantly use a good moisturising shampoo/ conditioner system :-) xx

Have you considered perming it? Seriously. When you perm your hair, you are breaking the bonds inside that either keep your hair straight, or curl it.They are like links on a chain. When the bonds are totally broken, the neutralizer is then used on the hair to lock it into it's new shape. The shape is determined by the size of perm rod used.
You might seriously consider having your hair permed using extra large rods.
If you decide to have this done, please go to a quality salon. One that uses quality products, and guarantees their work. Check them out before you decided, and choose someone who specializes in perms.
Good luck to you, and have a great time at the Winter Ball.

Try the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine line. Especially the Anti-frizz Serum. Also invest in some good hairspray.

This is from experience. Before you straighten it make sure that you add hair cream to it so that it will turn out looking really professional and heads turning just to look at your hair.

And before you go to bed, plait it and make sure that when you're having your bath/shower, the bathroom does not get too steamy especially when you have not done the plaits or it will go back to frizzy and you dont want that.

Do you?

Hello there, I'm a salon owner/hairdresser. I have a mate with the same problem, her hair is similar to Afro Caribbean hair, but blonde.. we did a very soft perm on large rods.. this
relaxed the hair, taking away the frizz, now she has lovely bouncy curls which have added 2 inches to her hair... its worth a try for a lasting effect..
