I think that Christians are everywhere and in many places, they have a difficult life, just as some people who live in the united states of america have a hard life because of their beliefs. I would think that if the Christians in Arab countries are natives then they would look just like the other people in the country. It can be difficult living even in the so called freest of countries as a christian. It is mainly up to you as an individual how hard your life will be. You can live by the Word of God and stay in his will... or you can be defiant and not which will make your life difficult no matter where you happen to live.

There are plenty of Christians born raised and living quiet peacefully in Muslim countries with no problems at all. Living side by side with Muslims and even loving and respecting each other as neighbors and friends. They look like anybody else? Can you tell if someone is a christian or not just by them walking past you in the street? i know i cant. Just the same way I cant tell if someone is a Catholic or a Hindu. They don't have signs above there heads?

Christians in the Arab world are pursuecuted for their faith. As a Christian we are commanded by Jesus to tell others about the Good News, the Gospel. To do this in the muslim world is against most of their civil laws and is be punishable.

Most of these Muslim governments anilate areas of their country that claim to be Christain or any other faith. Look at Turkey, Indonisa, many countries in West Africa, the former Soviet Union.

I think that Jesus tells that we are to go into this area of the world and to tell them the Good News. Jesus also said that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church.

I was surprised how many Christians are living in Lebanon.

Maybe everyone just keeps themselves to themselves and get along fine. Everyone has it in their head that Islam hates everyone and everything (thanks to our not-so-charming tabloids), but anyone with half a brain knows that this is untrue. People just want to live and let live. Just because some of the Muslim world is angry at the West for the 'war on terror', the West tends to presume that this means all Muslims hate every little thing about the West also and take it personally.

It would be interesting to hear from any Christian families who have been/have had families directly affected by Iraq, Lebanon etc to see how their fellow countrymen and women treated them.

It's great that everyone here lives in denial. Must be nice.
If you have read any newspapers lately (at least where I live) you will notice that Christian groups in the Arab and Muslim world often face prejudice and condemnation. That is a fact. Not all of them of course, but some of them. Anyone who tells you that everything over in the middle east and surrounding countries is just peachy for non-Muslims is lying. (Some of these countries don't even afford women the same rights as men, they would hardly encourage differing religions) Talk to some of the Christians who have faced this honestly, you will hear some different stories. (not all bad but not all good)

if they are christians, they will know there is a christmas,,,,the christians were around before the muslims took over.....

the people most likely look very much like the others in their country...............it is very difficult to impossible to live in a muslim country is you are a christian...they are persecuted and killed almost on a daily basis, but this is not advertised....they have to pay special taxes just because they are non-muslims, cannot receive mail, they have the worst of job, if any job at all, they have no real rights, they are raped without mercy and their churches are burned... in some countries they are crucified and their hands and legs are cut off...these people are true martyrs for their faith, not like the suicide bombers who kill people....

I think that a Christian in an Arab/Muslim country is definitely among the bravest bof Christians. To me that seems like trying to share your home with scorpions in peace.

Christianity began in the Middle East, and there have always been Christians there. Islam has always tried to suppress it, because it believes that no other faith should be allowed.
The Christians of the Arab world face great persecution for their faith, and need more than our prayers - they need our support. When governments believe that it is OK to torture and kill people who disagree, abuse will never stop.

According to those Easterners I've talked to it's much better than it is here. Muslims and Christians live side by side without the hatred. They actually live in harmony with one another.

What do they look like? :) Well they come in all shapes and sizes and colors. Just like not all Muslims are brown and not all Christians are white.

I live in Turkey and I have a number of Christian friends and acquaintances. As for what they look like - well, they have two eyes, one nose and one mouth. They have two arms and two legs. In other words - just like anyone else.

Additionally, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Egypt and Yemen all have very old and very large Christian communities.
