Good morning, Red Queen. In all actuality I do both. I volunteer at a school to help teach underpriviledged children the basics, I volunteer with a local no kill animal shelter, I crochet blankets and booties for preemies at a local hospital who will not be able to go home right at birth, etc. I am fortunate that I have the time to do this and would not expect everyone to do the same. However, we all have time to give to someone. Even if all you do is smile at someone who appears to need it or to say hello to everyone you meet.

spent my life doing the on the street thing helping those at risk, and in the end I even got paid a great wage for it and at the point at which I had the kind of affect that many were aware of, I began to see the spiritual enemy working to stop me. The opposing force gets very up tight when the actual causes of all those afflictions that you mention begin to be exposed and corrected. I actually spent an hour (it was supposed to be 5 min.) talking to the new governor who wanted to hear what I had to say. He saw what I said and how the plan would help. In the end it was stopped by insurance companies. You have no idea how much profit gets lost when a change is made to a system. When I arrived here with the plan to do on my own without Gov. assistance assuming that if there were an example working then it would be a hard thing to stop. Alass as I had thought the force against me was not of man but spiritual because within 6 months I was nearly murdered 2 times, by seemingly unrelated people. Second time I had a shot gun and fired it to protect myself and guess who got the criminal charge, they called it deadly conduct.
My point is this. A person can feed a poor person or any of those things and these are great acts of kindness but when seen from my viewpoint it is a half an attempt and one that fixes nothing in fact it might even be interfering sometimes, the survival of the fittest thing being part of the system we live in.
So I do these when asked and if not I leave it alone.
on a coin there is a heads and a tail, and without the two sides there is no coin. Would there be love without hate??
What is the sound of one hand clapping. Everyone's answer may be different, but nature is living and dying all around us and life goes on. Ideas take so long to take hold, that they must have a time in some bigger plan, b4 they are allowed to bring forth fruit. What seems like genocide may be part of a plan we do not understand, that genocide may be the sound of two hands clapping, beats me.
It is an old Buhdist learning question.
spell check no worky again so sorry

To feed the hungry sick and poor are a great way to serve the Lord, and in case you haven't went to church lately almost everyone who is involved with a church does feed and clothe many. And to rebute that word's are only words, My God created everything in the world in six days with Word's. He said let there be and it was. Proverbs 18:21; says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. so even though you don't think your words are Powerful, it doesn't change a thing and what so ever we speak into our lives today we will surely have...

As a matter of fact our church is getting ready for the holiday season by giving out food baskets to poor families in our area. we also have a member who does visit prisons and biker groups. We support a missionary in Nigeria. The Internet is just another way of reaching people who want to hear from us There are churches all over that help in times of trouble, The Salvation Army for one is constantly there to meet the needs of people. Most churches are made up of a few families, with average incomes, I don't think we can save the world by ourselves. We do what we can.

Religious people like to talk the talk, but they can't walk the walk. Unless it involves hurting or killing someone.
