sure make sure the bowl is on a mat so it wont slide around . next put some food in the bowl and some on the floor very near to the bowl when the dog is ok with being right next to the bowl put less food on the floor and more in the bowl. after a time the dog will eat from the bowl. also put treats that you know the dog really likes in the bowl and praise the puppy when he she eats from the bowl. as far as the water goes bowl on mat. and then you can this bit sounds funny but get down on the floor with the dog and pretend to drink the water and eat the food.
if you put some warm milk in the bowl and put that on your finger the dog is likely to go for the milk after a short time of that .
i know your not suppose to feed the puppy milk but it wont kill him and they love it as long as you dont switch to only giving the gog milk some for this purpose will be fine

If you put her food in the bowl and leave it there, she will eat it. By giving in and putting the food on the floor this is teaching this pup that if she cries or is stubborn you will do what she wants, hence her training you.
Leave her food in the bowl. Now that she knows all she has to do is not eat or throw a fit you will put the food where she wants it she will have a harder time with this, it may take longer for her to eat from the bowl, be persistent and do not give in (let her train you).
Good luck :0)

I've had a Jack Russel for 3 years and she still don't eat out of her bowl , I think that's the way they are . She will take her food out and put it on the floor to eat it . That is the Terrier in them . So It is something you just what to put up with .

This is quite common for small puppies. Place the food on a small plate, and let her get used to eating off that. Then place the plate inside the bowl for a few feedings, until she gets the idea that the bowl is for her food.

If your dog wont eat from the bowl take it away after 15 minutes, don't feed again til shes due her next feed. If she doesn't eat it after 15 minutes take it away again til her next meal time. When your dog is hungry it will eat from the bowl. If you don't, your dog will become a fussy eater and you will never get the problem solved.

First make sure the bowl doesn't smell of any funny chemicals (if you use a scented or "aromatherapy" dish soap, she may be reacting to that). Rinse it extra well with water and wipe it out with a paper towel.
Then follow Mong's advice.

Hi. My little dog will not eat out of her bowl either. I use sandwich baggies. She doesn't eat the bag either. I have tried everything. People say she will eat if she gets hungry but she never did. But don't worry too much about it not eating. I worried so much. Now my little dog is kind of getting fat.
Good luck!!

Does the container smell of any chemicals? Some animals hate any smell/sign of chemicals and wont go near freshly washed bowls/plates/bedding.

My dog does this too. I washed the bowls, got stainless steel, and he still won't eat out of it. I just feed him on the floor. :)
