I have been spending every holiday with the family and I am 41 yrs old. We have such a miserable time and it is getting progressively worse. I'm tired and want to have a good time, what do you think?

I don't think you should feel bad about this. If you have always spent Christmas with them in the past then you shouldn't feel guilty about it now. Who wants to feel that way on a day like that??? Christmas only comes once a year, and it should be a day that families get together with love. Your getting older and you should have a good time like you said. If they want to continue to be miserable then let them be, but you do what you have to do to make yourself happy. Don't feel bad about it either.

i think u all should go 2 a hill station or any other destination with ur family member or any place closer to the city where u stay . becoz there is a reason for this . we all r tried by doing our daily chorus n solving problems we dont get time 2 relax n spend time with our family members .holiday is only time when we get time 2 spend with each other . while going out u people will relax , play few games, do some shopping etc. dont hesitate just do it . dont worry about money because it comes n goes away . spending time with ur family is more cherishable then anything else .

I'm in a similar boat. I travel miles for Xmas and it's purely to see my son. I don't really get on with other family members and it makes for an awkward few days. I've got my son a computer and webcam and I'm going to Instant message with him regularly. It may give me the space I need to miss Xmas and perhaps visit in the new Year when everyone else isn't around. You deserve a pressure free Xmas like everyone else.

Don't regret it. Don't spend another lame Christmas with them. It is a right to have a good time...it is NOT a privilege.

It's your holiday, too...how you spend it is up to you. Remember the old adage...Doctor it hurts when I do this..."Don't do that."

It is often easier to modify our own behavior than to attempt to change the behavior of others.

Happy Winter Holidays!

It seems to me like you're in a dysfunctional family situation. So What I strongly recommend you do is have the entire family in group therapy for counseling.

JUST GIVE THEM A CARD THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH
MAYBE IF YOU DON'T GO
THEN MAYBE THEY WILL REALIZE
