Yellow Tail is good. . . .However, I always suggest trying to find a nice local wine (obviously depending where you live) because they are generally priced well and also is a much nicer and more thoughtful gift than a bottle picked strictly for the name. I often go to the Connecticut Wine Trail. I do some tastings and then pick out a few bottles of my favorite. Yum.

What is your price range? Hogue has a nice merlot in the 750 ml size bottle, and it's about $8.00. Hogue also has a table wine that's nice. But merlot is typically the blend given to the hostess.

Montinore Estate Gewerstraminer-Perfect wine for winter. Great with poultry dishes and hearty meals.

Kia Kaha Sauvingon Blanc-The "Anti-Winter" wine. It's from New Zealand and has a very citrus taste. Great with poultry, cheeses, and fruit.

Both are under $15/bottle. Both are exceptional.

An Australian Shiraz is a nice wine that seems to have a wide following. It's sophisticated, but priced very reasonably for the quality you get. It's a great choice.

Lindemans (Australia) are always nice chardonnarys, merlots, and cabernets. Usually under $10. Some Concha y Toro (Chile) are nice budget wines; their Casillero del Diablo is very good.

It all depends on what you call "reasonably priced". Your best bet is to ask your local wine merchant, they usually steer you in the right direction.

Personally, I would go for a St Emillion Grand Cru.

We always get Yellow Tail. It is very reasonable. Woodbridge is also a good choice.
