Well first of all if he is an indoor cat and doesn't go outside a lot that could be a problem! Your cat will have to get used to the outdoors first. However I would suggest that the litter box on the porch would definitly be a good idea. The only thing is if the kitty can't get to the box he might go some where you don't want him to! What I would do is get another litter box w/ no scent in it, put the old one on the porch and leave it there but when your not at home have the new one availibe for him so your not even more frustrated! Eventually he'll get the picture I hope for your sake. Just remeber it will take some time. GOOD LUCK

First move his litter tray outside so he gets used the going to the toilet out there. If you have earth or grass where you want him to go in future, put a little bit of used litter there - he will recognise the smell and start using that area and you should therefore be able to give up on the litter tray - good luck (it worked on my two cats).

Use the hard clumping litter and scoop it out at least twice a day. You shouldn't smell the litter. Keep your cat inside where it is safe from cars and bad people who take delight in killing cats.

put plastic wrap or celliphane over the toilet, add the kitty litter to the celliphane...the cat will sit on the toilet and do its bussiness, when the cat gets the idea, remove the wrap/litter..and the cat will take a dump in the toilet.
