First, you need to define a mission. Range, altitude, speed, payload capacity.

From this, you can begin to do some energy calculations of motor size, fuel capacity, etc. This will give you total weight, from which you can begin to determine wing area, etc.

The best way to accomplish an "aeroplane project" is to define your mission, and then go get an existing design that fulfills that mission - whether it be a real airplane or a toy one. No use in re-inventing the wheel here.

First, make sure you have all the materials you need before getting on board (remember that everything has to fit into your carry-on baggage), then work quietly in a corner so you don't disturb the other passengers.
