ethics? as in knowing you have not slept with the entire male student body of the local university?
yes, important, for 2 reasons
1 std's
2 if your past history numbers into the hundreds or thousands, what are the odds your going to be happpy with this guy and setle down with him, most people of either gender date looking for a firm partner, if your not that, then you end up being someone to sleep with and move on.

Because there's still so much sexism in the world, it's considered desirable to have a dozen or so notches on your bedpost if you're a guy, but if you're a girl- then you're branded 'a ****'.
Maybe some guys feel threatened that when a woman has more experience, that they are being judged in the bedroom.
In that scenario, I think as long as all past contacts are severed (or loose ends tied up) and you're with the right partner, there is no issue. If you're dealing with someone who is especially inconsiderate of your past/views, then you have to ask yourself if the relationship is worth pursuing. Giving your heart and soul to someone who secretely (or blatantly) thinks that you're a **** is just wrong beyond words.
It does or course go the other way, where some partners prefer to be more conservative than the other.
I suppose it boils down to people understanding one and other's needs, and respecting their decisions.
Always use contraceptives! :)

As general rule, I don't see any reason to perpetuate a double standard or support this type of inequality. I (as a man) have had more than one sexual partner in my lifetime, so why would I protest if a woman had more than one sexual partner in hers?
In my specific case, I am 34 years old and a single father. I'm not expecting any woman around my age to be 'untouched', and I'd be seriously worried if she hadn't slept with somebody before meeting me (without good reason anyways).

I do not believe in sexual ethics especially when it comes to a good relationship.sex is a major aspect of relationship that must be handled with clear and flexible attitude. There is really no room for ethics because you need to openly express your feelings and emotions which then translate to an enjoyable sex. However, I must say that there is a need for understanding of this fact by both parties and no undue meanings should be given to this acts .Also, shyness in sex games often lead to unsatisfied feelings which most often than not lead to relationship failure. Thus, one can not say there is anything like sexual ethics because this will lead to artificial relationship filled with dissatisfaction and boredom.Mind you, maturity and frankness are the key words to achieve success in this issue and u need to discuss this in a lighter mood with your partner.
Good luck

This is a difficult one...........personally, I'd say that this is immaterial and has no bearing on how I feel for my current girlfriend. Her past is her past and that has made her the truly wonderful person that she is today.............however, just because she has had a past, that does not mean that I need to know the details.
I know she has had past lovers but I do not need (or indeed want to know) how many people she has been with. Just as long as she's been careful and sensible.
