Yes, no doubt about it. Christians are told that to question anything about their faith is to be tricked by "the devil". It's brainwashing; it's manipulation to keep them afraid of knowledge. More than anything, it's sad.

I can see what you are saying. At first I disagreed, then I read some responses. Most people are so uninformed. I notice one person she couldn't imagine being Catholic and not praying to God. (IGNORANT) Catholics pray to the same God as other Christians--they are Christian too--they even use a prayer sometimes that Jesus taught us himself that other Christians also use. (same prayer!)
So I guess years of brainwashing prevent some Christians from being open minded. And that goes for ALL denominations. I am Christian and I am open minded. I accept that not everyone will believe and not everyone wants to believe. I believe and if asked I can explain my beliefs but I will not shove it down the throats of others. I accept their right not to believe.
As for saying that Christians have to stay on the straight and narrow-- that is true but allowing others freedom isn't altering your path. you don't have like or agree with everyone but in case you haven't noticed your tactics of condemning and judging are not doing anyone any good.

If being broad-minded means accepting everything equally. then yes. Jesus said some very specific things about Himself, and those who wanted to follow Him.
If being broad-minded means understanding that people come from different points of view, that they deserve respect, and should be treated with love and kindness, then Christians can be very broad-minded.
Love beats hate every time.

Christians are broad minded to the point that anything that exalts itself against the knowledge of God must not be entertained. Whatever Christians accept cannot contradict the word of God. This is good because God is much more wiser than man.

I think that Christianity gets a bad rap. The bottom line is that almost all belief systems at there core exclude all other belief systems. That's just how it is. Even if you are an absolute relativist you will most likely have issues with those who believe in absolutes. I would encourage you to read anything you can find by Ravi Zacharias if you're interested in the intelectual case for Christ. ( http://www.rzim.org/ ). Good luck on your search

during the medieval period, christian are forced to believe in christianity only - you'll be condemned if you don't!

we are now living in an ever changing world and society keeps on changing anything that comes by, so you see many non-believers!

Being broadminded for christian to practise is rather difficult if they were to follow the old ways of teachings

Unless one can come up with fresh rational ideas and dare to speak out, you will see many "broadminded' christian coming out of their cocoon

jesus said the path he taught was the straight and arrow way, because the "broad" path leads to destruction....many times being too broad allows ideas in that are not good for us.....being more narrow does not have to be a bad thing... it means we are more careful about what we accept as truth...

it is difficult to be broad minded when everything is based on one book that does not look favourably on dissent.
