BCT is rather hard. Alot of it is mental but you will be sore for about the first month. You will also sleep like a baby.

BCT is all about stress. One of the greatest reasons to send prospective soliders through BCT is to weed out the folks that will crack under pressure. But if you really want to be a soldier then you will push yourself.

As for AIT, it depends on what MOS you are going into.

When i was in AIT i hade 8-10 hours of classes and training a day, 5 days a week. Add on to that 1+ hours of PT everyday and some extra duties. Fire watch and other such things.

Good luck and get Airborne in your contract.

Well I will admit it has been over 20 years since I went to BCT but I am pretty sure that things havent changed all that much.

BCT isn't honestly all that hard. If you are in pretty good shape before you get there its not really all that hard. BCT is mentally tough though. The Military is going to assist you in changing the way you think and act. IF you get into a fight while in BCT you will more than likely get smoked (Additional Physical Training), possibly receive an Article 15 (Non-Judicial Punishment) and could even be seperated from the Service.
Classes in AIT from what I remember were 8-12 hours long. The remainder of the time was spent in either PT, Chow, moving to or from class or other details.

The best way to get through BCT and AIT is to come there with an open mind, be in shape, willinging to learn and always give it your all. If you are having trouble grasping something then ask your DS. They will assist you in getting it.

YES 24 September 1958. Basic Combat Training is very intense and demanding and the course, as far as the US Army is concerned is 9 weeks long, will be 12 to 14 hours long depending on what Military Post you're assigned to. There are no fights at BCT, if there is, both
people will be discharged from the service with a unsuitibility for military service and that is not good. For
more information on BCT, go to these websites:

These will help you and there are links for the other
branches of the US Armed Forces!!
