Has anyone been recently arrested in detroit for D.U.I and if so how bad were the penalties and did you have an attorney. I was arrested on saturday and it was the worst experience of my life. I know that never is a long time but I will never operate a vehicle drunk again. It was hell.

If you took a breathalyser and failed you're in trouble . But, the 'good news' is that you can get that plea-bargained down to a somewhat lesser offense . But it will cost you . Immediately enroll yourself in Drug and Alcohol counselling . they will assess your 'risk level' and then recommend treatment/meetings . Completion of this before court is imperative for any kind of plea-bargain . This can be expensive, but there's no way out of it . Register soon, because if you let time pass, you'll be left with only a few choices on where you go for this treatment, and that usually means the most expensive treatment centers . There's somewhat of a waiting list to get in at a less expensive center. You'll probably go to the meetings once or twice a week for possibly months.

I would get an attorney no matter where you live. I'm glad you didn't kill yourself or someone else driving drunk. If it was the worst experience of your life, the cops did a great job and I hope you keep your promise.

You're only going to "never operate a vehicle drunk again" until the next time you operate a vehicle drunk! Drunk drivers never learn and rarely change!!!

If you could justify your comment about NEVER drinking and driving again I would be willing to help you out. You see, to those of us that have suffered great losses due to your drinking and driving, there isn't a punishiment severe enuff. And even though your first thought right there was, "but I didn't hit anybody."
Let's look at how many people saw you get into that car and how many people you are gonna go brag to about getting a DUI. In other words, how many DUI's are you causing by setting a "norm" of DUI?
