I am 33 years old, male. I dont have much fat on me, so i am not looking to lose much weight. My question is will 3 days in the gym be enough of a workout for me. I will work total body twice a week with an extra day of cardio. And it will probably take me 2 hours to do each body workout, is that too long? or is it ok? thanks

Three days per week and 2 hours per workout is excellent. You have to decide if tour goal is to bulk up as in muscle mass, tone your muscles or physical stamina in terms of physical exertion.

Your goal will dictate the type of workout you should be focusing on.

You can be slim but you may not be fit. Body Mass Index is the way to figure out if you are in the correct range.

Go to: www.mayoclinic.com to figure out your height/weight proportions. BMI is that indicator.

From the description you have given I think you are doing good. I am doing the same amount of workout with total body workout one day a week and then apportion my schedule to all to muscle one day and all to cardio on the other etc.. this way I do 4 days a week with weekends off. Looks like this is what you are doing.

It takes about 2 full hours including warmups and cooldowns each time.

You must feel good too if you keep up this regimen.

I know that I enjoy going to the gym 4-5 times a week, but working out for an hour or a little bit longer than that. Never work your total body at once. It's the best to focus on muscle groups. For instance, you can work your arms and chest on Mondays, back and abs on Wednesday and legs on Saturday. Try combining all your work outs with cardio each time you go to the gym.
