Is the same doctor prescribing all these medications? My concern is anti-depressants and anti-epileptics don't mix. The anti-depressants lessen the effectiveness of the anti-epileptics. Are your seizures controlled? What side effects are you suffering from? Make an appointment with your GP straight away, and bring all your medications in. Your prescriptions need to be reassessed, and a better alternative found to this overload of medication.

Anti epileptics such as carbamazepine, sodium valproate and valproaic acid are often prescribed as mood stabilisers in the treatment of either bipolar depression or treatment resistant depression.

Depending on what you mean by being monitored by your doctors, if you feel that they are covertly observing you then you could be experiencing break-through paranoid symptoms and may need a review of your anti-psychotics.

If you mean they are monitoring your general well being it may be worth discussing a anti-cholinergic to ensure that you do not suffer any extra pyramidial side effects such as tardive dyskinesia

I don't agree,I've been under the doctors (psychiatrosts) & the only thing they know of is to fill u up with pills. Please don't take this the wrong way but I feel they just want to get rid the problems by giving them pills. thaty's the responsibility off their shoulders.

I know for myself, eveything u tell them they say: take this medication, or this medication it's their answer 2 everything.
It's as if they have the MAGIC pills.

A lot these drugs have long term side effects that are dangerous. I think sometimes they help but high doses, over-medication is a way of life with psychaitrists. You need to check it out.

I don't know how u can be sure u r being monitores but I know of this organisation that will help u: CCHR (Citizens Commission on Human Rights) investigating & exploring psychiatric human rights abuse)

This "cocktail of drugs" is often prescribed for bipolar patients and can be very helpful. As long as the same psychiatrist is prescribing all the meds you should be fine. It's OK to take anticonvulsants with the other drugs you list as long as your doctors know you are taking both. Sometimes several meds of different kinds are needed to completely control all the symptoms.
