for those of us who recycle- are we wasting our time?

Question

are we just recycling for the hell of it? are all our cans/bottles and newspapers just being thrown out anyway? do we sort and seperate all our recyclables for nothing?

i've heard that it costs the sanition companies more $$ to truck
the recylables to the recycling facitilies, so they just pay the landfills to take it like its regular trash.

i hope this is not true.

This isn't so much an answer to your question, but a true story of something that happened near my home in a rural area.

Recycling goods were left out for pickup. The truck came through and loaded the 'garbage'. A couple of hours later, quite a few people saw the recycling truck emptying into a regular garbage truck along the roadside. Neither truck was disabled, as they both drove off afterward.

I know this isn't the case all the time, but it does make one wonder.

Check it up and if true, contact the Manufacturing firms which use the Scrap for recycling. You may not have to carry it there. They would arrange to collect. Never let your good work go in vain . It is a great disservice to the Society if someone is forcing this to happen.

I recycle paper, because the other are harder to recycle, the plastic bottle have like codes and wont recylcel unless taken to specific facility. most of public schools have paper recycling options available...and they are reliable...so if this help try it at local public school for your paper at least.

I hope we are doing some good in this world , but you maybe right about the big companies . All we can do is keep trying .

we need to look more into are government and move turds making changes to the things that are wrong.like people having no heath insurance,little are no food,ext... now trash at least they can get that right since they are so good at talking trash...
