The Word of God is for then, now, and forever. You cannot pick and choose what you want to follow out of the bible. That is what I think religion is about, accepting only the things that you want, then making an excuse for the things that you don't want to obey or deal with. The bible is the Word of God and if you go to John 1:1 you will learn that the Word is also God. " In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So if the Word is God then everything in it is for us to learn from. You have to do your research in the word and pray to get the wisdom and interpretation from God alone. That is why it is very important to have the Holy Spirit. Without it you can not rightly decipher what is of God and what is just your own wisdom.
Yes, Jesus died for our sins, and we are redeemed because of his sacrifice. But we still must be born again of the water and of the spirit, then lead an acceptable life for God.

From my view you have countless misconceptions, yet do make a sturdy element. one million. very few Christians will say that Jesus replaced the guidelines, He himself reported that not one commandment would be abolished. 2. many of the 'commandments' which you indexed weren't 'regulations' as some think of, yet positioned down as a social order for the Israelites to persist with to examine a healthful society of their international. (eg. tattoos, shaving, 'kosher' foodstuff rules) the spirit of those rules could be observed, however the letter of them might replace with the society. (ie. do not do issues that are risky or risky) 3. a lot of what you indexed have been to maintain the Israelite united states cut loose the different countries (holy or diverse in case you will) and to maintain the impacts of the different countries from blending into their ideals. The Church isn't the Israel united states, yet back the thoughts are nevertheless in place. As persons we are to maintain ourselves holy and inspire that existence out of others that have chosen to persist with God, yet we at the instant are not a 'united states' in the comparable way because of the fact the Israelites have been, so we've not the authority (nor the choose) to stress our society to persist with them. i comprehend that this might look like a 'cop out' (definite, i'm sufficiently previous to apply that element era) yet for many Christians that's the reason of what you spot as a discrepancy.

Yeah, if you read the bible and follow it word for word, all these christian women going to church in their best clothing wearing make-up and perfume are diametrically opposed to the teachings in it. The bible recommends a potato-sack and some kind of head covering so as not to seduce the angels.

Christians sin just as much as non christians... I think all people pick and choose what they want to believe, right or wrong. That is free will and I'll list examples of each...
Liberals claim to be open minded... but if you disagree with them you are wrong... How much more close minded could that be.
Christians are always the first to point out a "sinner"... but the last to receive criticism with an open heart.
Atheists are always shouting that "God doesn't exist"... but let one of them get hurt or almost die and they cry out for God to help them just like everyone else.
I could continue but I think this answers well enough

personally i dont believe in the bible, but as far as i understand it, those rules were in place during the old testament, in which people lived by jewish laws, these being examples of them, but when jesus came he abolished the need for the old laws, since people were now forgiven by grace, instead of following the laws.

I think it is because we/they hearken back to the saducees (sp) under Judaism. We to often try to make others more evil than us thus ensuring that *in our eyes* we deserve a place in His realm.
