Has anyone actually stopped, listened to one of these people and been converted?

I have preached on the streets here in the US and have converted a few. However I also have been in Mexico with help of a interpreter and Jamaica and people are more receptive to the Gospel there than they are here.

No, no, no I havn't been converted and nor would I ever be. I object to having my privacy invaded - if I want to know about some other religion then I will find out myself thankyou! I think by knocking on doors preaching about religion actually puts people off - it shouldn't be allowed. I am a spiritualist by the way.

Maybe it works better as a means of letting someone with a lot to say about religion say it in a loud voice to lots of people they don't know, I mean, as a kind of steam valve for the zealous...

but it could also work as part of a net of other effects- I mean, street preaching may not work like magic converting everyone who hears it, but if someone was headed towards belief anyway, it could give them the extra push they needed if they heard a good street sermon.

Personally I find street preaching to be impolite and disrespectfull of people who perhaps do not share the beliefs of the preacher.

If someone is interested in a religion I suspect that they will find their way there of their own accord, going out with the aim of converting others feels offensive to me.

No matter what your beliefs are, I would think street preaching would annoy you. Even if you agreed with what was being said. So I doubt someone could be converted since most are to annoyed to truly listen. But that is just my opinion.

No, I have not been converted, although I've stopped to listen.

And no matter how I feel about the message of these folks, I'm so very proud to be a supporting member of an organization that defends their religious liberties..

The ACLU.

I find it cringeworthy, althogh I suspect the people doing it have good intentions it may actually put more people off. I suppose it depends on the quality - a person just yelling with a board, hmm maybe help on or two but but masses more off!

There are two types. One who stands with a board telling us to repent. The other is known as a street preacher, but they conduct an interactive approach with the 'wayward'. They i believe, often have the ability to 'breakthrough' and help transform the lives of many who are heading towards real trouble in their lives. It is this second group, who i believe are unsung heroes. The first group, are simply there and i guess very few are converted.

No, people have to get to work, most on the street doing this are thought to be mentally insane.

I know for a fact that it works. Whenever the Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached, people are going to respond.
