a rosary is a series of prayers reflecting on five events per mystery of Jesus's life. A chaplet is a shorter prayer (or in the case of the Divine Mercy, a long prayer) dedicated to just one thought.

Hi Sweety, the Holy Rosary is the life, death and resurrection of Jesus that is honored by reciting the Rosary with beads.
some Christians fail to understand that the Holy mysteries of the Rosary are Gospel passages,i.e the birth of Jesus, the Agony in the garden, the Resurrection etc and therefore are not made up mumbo jumbo.
also the repetitions of the prayers are also Gospel based as the our Father is the Lords prayer and the Ave`s or Hail Mary`s are composed of the message of the Angel Gabriel( Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,Jesus) and the second part of the Ave spoken by Elizabeth as inspired by the Holy Spirit is Gospel also( Holy Mary Mother of God) and finally the ending is a prayer of the faithful(pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen)
A chaplet is not as intensely scripture based as the Holy Rosary, and is usually in honor of Jesus , Mary or the Saints,eg St.Joseph or St.Michael the Archangel, and are mostly petition prayer as well, they are usually much shorter than the Rosary, but the Holy Rosary is higher in praise of Christ than these are.
