Especially when you suffer with stress, you should go to the gym and work your but off. You'll feel completely tired, but calm and serene. It's very hard to get back on the track, but you should do so. Think of it as a thing that you should do for yourself and no one else. No one is going to exercise instead of you. Maybe you stopped working out because you subconsciously realized that that kind of exercise is not right for you (in the way it's boring or too tiring). Try focusing on some other approach to working out (use different techniques or different work outs). I know that I hated going to the gym and running on a tread mill or doing cardio on master stepper or a bike, so that's why I stopped going to the gym for a long time, and finally realized that I enjoy working out in a group like aerobics, pilates, yoga... Maybe I'm not right, but it's just me.

I know it isn't fancy but you just have schedule a time and day to start...clear your calendar and walk out the door. Your best motivation is in your question.
You recognize that your body feels different from when you were the most fit in your life and yes exercise will reduce that stress level.
When I use to run marathons I stopped running completely for 7 weeks after completing a marathon in San Diego. And yes...I had a very hard time going back to running 17 miles a day (while working full time) 4 days a week. I just finally set a time and day to start...and did it.
Good luck.

I know how you feel! I'm just recovering from a sprained ankle and have not been to the gym or exercised in weeks. I hate it. -lol- You feel sluggish and blah, but I decided it's time to get back to just moving...period. start slow. Take a walk around the park or even the mall ( no shopping!) and your body will get use to moving around and then eventually start your old workout regimen. I'm thinking of trying out workout videos to get me going since I really can't go out jogging ( which I miss). Good luck with your new workout goal.

well, u might start with shopping - buy yourself a nice gym outfit. they re so cute! also don't forget about training shoes. they re cute too. after u get them of course u would want to wear them somewhere! also it would be very nice if there were some cute guys at your gym. maybe there re now? u must check! maybe u will meet the love of your life. if u already have a partner looking at nice muscly studs wouldn't hurt. good luck with starting! u will feel very good after!
