Please no muslim bashing.

Yeah, am trying to read the Koran.

WIll get the quote I was talking about. It's totally understandable that you would want proof.

Sorry I don't agree that most muslims have read the torah and the gospels. I know muslims who haven't even read the Koran.

But what if there are contradictions between holy books. And especially the message of Jesus in the gospels and the Jesus in Islam.

Didn't Mohammed make a claim that he was just reinforcing what had already been said.

Do you just want to believe that blindly?

The Bible wasn't changed from it's original form in Hebrew and in Greek, until around 3rd century A.D.

2006-12-04 00:00:49 · update #4

wasn't "translated" from it's original form. These forms are said to be still intact.

I'm not meaning this to be islamophobic. But if the gospels are true, I don't see how the Koran can be true at the same time.
Sorry, that's just how I see it. Anyway, respect is one thing. Seeing someone walking into darkness and keeping your mouth shut is another.

Some of these footnotes are to explain things you might not otherwise understand, such as reading Shakespeare.

I just don't see how you can say that the Bible has been changed and not even consider that the Koran might have went through the same thing.

Anyway, that being said. I will give up my apologetics. Keep seeking God (if it's through Islam that's great). Those who seek God will find him.

Props to those of you who have read both the koran and the gospels that's awesome.
Keep on keeping on and God bless you.

I guess you have to read it to understand Islam's claim about the corruption that was inflicted on the gospels.Beneath it all, the gospel does contain some good news. God's love.

Peace

The church claims that the gospels are still like the ancient once. This is a lie, just look at the footnotes in the bible. Also a few words have been changed to give different interpretations, which ultimately can change the whole context.

First of all, the teachings of Jesus (peace be upon him) are mentioned in Koran so we don't really need to read the gospels to know what they are.

The other thing is, reading the others holy books or scriptures helps create understanding between people.

I already read a summary and 6 chapters of Genesis from the Old Testament so far. It really was so much like reading Koran because it's originally a holy book authored by God.

The last thing Mohammad (peace be upon him) taught us that part of being believers is to believe in all holy books and that they are originally being authored by God. There were very few Christians in what is known now as Saudi Arabia, where Mohammad the messenger was born and lived- he only travelled twice or something for trading purposes- so he didn't really get to know Christians outside the framework of business yet he taught us to believe that Christianity is a religion from God and that they have a holy book.
Doesn't that show how Islam is based on understanding and respecting others?

But again reading the gospels is not an obligation. We don't have to read them to be better Muslims because there shouldn't be much difference if they all set rules for people to live peacefully.

In Islam the gospels are called the INJEEL - and the old testament, (first 5 books) the THORAH.

Just like in any religion you will get good and bad people. It is the people who are good or bad, not the faith. Most Muslims have read the Injeel and the Thorah - and in terms of the Quran, in fact, the tradition is to know the Quran by heart...to become "HAFEZ" - know it, be able to call upon verses for uplifting, strength, love, etc. Have most Christians read all the gospels. I can tell you as a Christian that no, most have not. And how many have learnt even a few scriptures by heart and can find them? How many Christians know the names of God (The Christian names?) Did you know there ARE such things? Come on people, let's not get on a political bandwagon that the superpowers create - let's do as Jesus and Muhammed did - be kind to the people of the Book - all 3 books...please be accepting of someone else's path - after all, Jesus commanded us not to judge, did he not?

Mohammad said that real Bible and Thorah you can find inside Koran. We believe that Allah gave to prophet Moses and Jesus His books but today you cant find the real ones.Suppose the time of prophet Moses was ending with Jesus and Bible Allah cancelled the books before.Allah would accept people as Muslims if they believed Allah is only one God and Jesus is His messenger. But after prophet Mohammad (saw)came with Koran
Allah cancelled Bible also.

There is one thing sure about religions, either you are right or wrong. If you are right, then others can't be right. And no offence, but if you believe you and others could be right at the same time ~ you can't be a good muslim/chrisitan/jew etc.
As an atheist I believe all religions are right as much as they are wrong. So, instead I would rather concentrate on the philosophy of life today rather than from a 2000+ years old perspective.

As Muslims we are commanded to believe that these holy books exist(Bible-Old Test. & Torah), but we don not have to read them physically. So any Muslim that denies the existance of these books is not a true believer, But that doesnt mean that we have to believe or adhere to the commands in these books as we follow the Holy Quraan that was revealed to Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W).

Muslim read Al-Quran and Hadis. They not read bible. The people who ask and answer the questions about Islam must have a knowledge about Islam first before you say something.

Prophet Mohammed (peace be on him) did not ask us to read anything ..Allah (God) asked as to read his last book to humans which is the Holy Quraan. If the gospels are the books of christians and jews,as some readers answered, then we don't have to red them .Do you know why? because you have 5 bibles ,while we have only one Holy Qraan !
God savesd Qraan from distortion because it meant to be the last book to human beings.
