People are people- we will always want to kill each other over scarce resources. As the resources get scarcer it will get worse. If you think the world is bad now fighting over oil - wait 20-50 years until we are running out of water and then see what happens.
Religion is nothing but an illusionists trick to make you look at one hand whilst the other is doing something else.
It keeps the people happy because they think they are saving themselves whilst others are making provision for themselves. E.G. Iraqis, Afghans etc. Fighting a holy war- not really this is a simple rouse. This i the rason to create Israel there in the middle east - why there ? couple of reasons 1) to have control of holy sites - it does seem that there is some significance to them - not sure what this is yet. 2) to piss people off and create instability so we can broker deals more easily and get our filthy hands on more oil more cheaply - if there were peace there (a which I have never found in history of the middle east) it would be more difficult to find leverage and so arab countries with their vast oil reserves would effectually run the world. (For now at least)

Religion itself is not the problem. The problem is the brainwashing of children from a very early age in the beliefs of particular religions.
If all of this brainwashing effort was instead directed toward ensuring all children grow up to have a careing, responsible attitude to fellow human beings of all colours and creeds then yes the world would be much better off without religion.

Without a doubt it would be. Look at how many people have been killed because of religion, whether they were following the religious beliefs correctly or not.
- The Holocaust
- The Spanish Inquisition
- 9/11
- London Bombings
- The Crusades
All because of religion one way or another.

religion has always been the basis for ones life. No matter what it is. But I would say this God says plainly in his word that a Godless nation one who does not believe in him, will reek havoc on it self. The U.S. was built and based on One nation Under God using the bible. and it is a great place to live. Full of freedom and rights.. Other countries that do not recognize God Almighty as their leader, Will they run around beating and killing each other.. So you decide would the U.S. be better off without religion or not..

Some might say yes, others no.
But the main point is, this question is worthless, as it's only about opinions, and it's impossible, that this world will be without religions. It's something that a lot of people imagine, but will never happen. Impossible... more than impossible...
So, I suggest, you stop thinking about this...because theres only a 1/91357867476134687321349851765 chance of it happening.
Thank you

although religion has been the cause of much bloodshed over the centuries, more attrocities have been committed under atheistic regimes which try to outlaw religion.
It's when politics and power get involved and hijack religion that we have problems.

I think the world needs something to believe in and have the faith that a majority of people have in religion but I don't think we should have the set rules of religion.
I think people show their christianity in ways OTHER than going to church, and doing charity work and whatever else they do. It goes back to the basics of doing good deeds for your community. Helping the elderly, helping your neighbours, being nice to people day in and day out etc etc ...
You know what I mean?
There are people that go to church every day and claim they are SUCH GOOD CHRISTIANS - But when someone needs help - they can usually be the last to help !!

I believe that religion is all about rules and man's will instead of strictly God's will. Yes, all Churches need doctrines and guidelines, but some "religions" go to the extreme with their own interpretations of the bible instead of what God truly intends. We should live more by faith not religion.

No because without religion there would be no fear of consequence. Sad but true humans for the most part have to have a God to fear and "follow" in order to be humane. I personally don't practice any given relgion because I am living for the here and now.

I believe religions have served their purpose an are now in the process of being dissolved. Humanity has begun to live on the level of spirituality, having unity with God in unconditional love within our hearts. Dropping all religious beliefs, living in unconditional love ,in harmony with all of Gods creation.
