There is a law that states that they should not boil a calf in its mother's milk.
The pharisees,rabbi's went further and said that to avoid this, they shouldn't mix milk and meat at all.
What they seem to forget is that if you don't know that the milk belong to the mother, God will forgive.God's instructions was clear!You must show respect to animals when you kill and cook them, be gratefull.

Its sin to eat roast beef but not the cooked ones , still its half sin to eat the meat part , but the Gravey part is no sin at all.

Because if you mix them or the area that you use them in, then its deemed as dirty. Jews are quite particular about their food and how its prepared. Its to do with their religion and their respects to god i suppose.

I think it started during the time of one of their prophets. It demonstates humble acceptance and satisfaction of one sort of food or another, but not both.
