Ok, I know this will sound dumb. I don't drink much, I just was never into it. I will have a light beer now and then and I have only tried a few mixed drinks ever. This makes it really difficult to order anything in a social setting that I would like.
I know I don't like any sweet drinks. Can you suggest any classy, dry drinks that are good? This isn't a trick question, please help!

If you're not used to drinking hard alcohol drinks, I'd start with something with vodka since that is generally considered the most neutral flavored spirit. But I'd go with a good brand and not the bars standard low-shelf stuff, which can be nasty tasting. Absolut is pretty good and most bars stock it.
If you like cranbery juice, try an Absolut & Cranberry.
If you like orange, go for a screwdriver.
Want something simpler, go for a vodka-seven. (Vodka & 7up)
Or just have that light beer.
Cheers.

For more years than I remember(or wish to) my dry drink of choice has been ginger ale straight. I also am not a drinker. It has never been important for to drink no matter what the occasion. If I have something to drink with booze in it it is usually rum and orange juice or a light beer but that is a rare thing.

If you want to look like you are drinking something alcoholic when you are not, try drinking Ginger Ale if available.
If you want a real drink, then ask for a 7 and 7 or a vodka tonic (a twist on the tonic to make it taste better is to ask for Absolut Citron or Absolut Mandarin).

Try a good scotch watered down with sparkling water. Not too strong yet cool to say you're drinking scotch. Chivas , Jack, or at least Crown Royal. Seven seven is good too. All it is is sprite with Seven Crown bourbon (canadian whiskey). If scotch is really not your thing, rum and coke is always good, but it's easy to drink more than you can handle because it tastes just like diet coke. Happy holidays.

White Zinfandel wine is dry and with only a hint of sweetness.
For mixed drinks there are grapefruit juice wth vodka, and I think it is called a Salty Dog. Or my favorite is cranberry juice with vodka or tequila. Can't remember the name.
Many people do not drink so don't feel weird.

Try a ''dry martini'' if you are in a bar they won't make it too strong, unless you ask them, so you should be able to drink them nice and slowly without too much ill effect
