I don't agree with working at a early age for one simple reason enjoy being a child. A child is only a child once why hurry up the grow up process. A child should not start working until one they are in high school then just on weekend. and only if they want to. I have plenty of things around the house they can do to earn money. So no i don't agree

Yes. Its a good idea. The age here is 14. It will teach her responsibility. I will let encourage her to have a job one or two days a week so she can earn her own money and buy her own things and learn to manage her own money. Of the money she earns I will instruct her to put 10 percent of it into a saving account so she can learn how to save, and instead of an allowance she can manage her own money and buy any extras she needs. It will also be good for a resume for her and she can meet some new responsible friends as well.

my mother got my working papers at 13 and ever since then I have worked, she was a single mother and had me and my sister to take care of and well, if we wanted expensive things for school we had to get it ourselves. It taught me responsibility at a young age and as much as I hated going to work after school and during my summer vacation I learned what hard work does and I appreciated what was 'given' and what was 'earned'
I plan on having my son get a job as soon as it is legal for him to do so. It's a good thing for today's youth work and earn money on their own, to learn the value of a dollar. I mean why should they just be handed PlayStation 3's?, cellphones?, $150 jeans? $200 sneakers and not know how it got to be so?.....

It all depends on how early we're talking here. I had 4 sisters and we all were employed as soon as we were able to be.. mind you where I live there are strict labor laws, and we had to abide by them, but we still had after school and weekend jobs ( with our parent's permission) when we were 14. We wanted things and while our mother bought us the things we needed, we had to work for the things that we wanted, and we did.
It taught us that if you want something, you have to earn it.. a good life lesson, and that lesson is one that you can never be too young to learn.

I started working at 16 and had that first job for three years.
I think it's important for children to start working ASAP at 16 - why? Because it helps make them become responsible. It also gives them the enjoyment of earning their own money. They can start keeping a bank account and learn about saving and spending money wisely. It also helps them start making a job history. Your work history is very important!!!!! Nobody wants to higher an adult that has no work history.

Yes. It teaches children the value of money and what it's like to earn it themselves. A good work ethic is something that young teenagers should learn, and will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Yes! It teaches kids responsibility and how to mange and save money. My parents didn't give us an allowance so I got a paper route, and worked at a fruit stand and baby sat. I always had money and didn't have to ask my parents for it.

I started work when I was 11. There are good points and bad. Starting work early gives you a sense of the realism of money, fast, but you get sick of it all sooner.
