we count cell because they determine a lot of our health status. we all have a standard number of red blood cells and of all the types of white blood cells. an abnormal change in number, like the increase of at least one type of white blood cell would mean that you have an infection or that there is a foreign material in your body. decrease in red blood cells would mean that you might have anemia of some sort. that's why complete blood counts (cbc's) are one of the necessary tests to determine your health status

What context of cell counting are you referring to? In a complete blood count (CBC) cells are counted to determine the number of red cells, white cells, etc. Low numbers can indicate anemias. Certain high numbers can indicate infections, leukemia, etc.
